Here’s how to book a space in Ō Tātou Wāhi Our Spaces:
Whether you’re planning a party, meeting, wedding, sports practice or community event, there’s a space for every occasion. You can find everything from community facilities and garden parks to pool lanes and sports courts in Ō Tātou Wāhi Our Spaces(external link).
Check out an overview of some of the most popular venue types below, or for something more bespoke, search the Ō Tātou Wāhi Our Spaces website(external link).
Our community facilities, centres and auditoriums are great venues for hosting indoor community or private events. Kitchen spaces and resources, such as tables and chairs, are also available to hire if required.
Some community facilities have a no alcohol policy in place – this will be stated on the booking page.
Equipped with modern equipment, screens and flexible configurations for seating and tables, our rooms for hire provide a professional and comfortable environment to meet, collaborate or host presentations.
Our parks and gardens are a great place to have a picnic, birthday party or wedding. Choose from neighbourhood parks, beaches or even the Botanic Gardens.
Choose from booking single lanes for club trainings and activities through to certain full pools for school swimming sports or polo games. Events can be held in our competition pool venues.
Please note that any pool admission fees are in addition to any lane/pool hire fee. These can be paid on arrival to your booking, either by casual entry, a multi-visit pass or with a membership.
Find out more about pool hire(external link).
We also have birthday packages at several locations. Find out more about Swim n’ Slide at our pools(external link).
Depending on the facility, you could book a court for basketball, netball, volleyball, badminton, pickleball, korfball, futsal or other activities on arrangement. Tournaments can be hosted in our stadia.
These are well used by clubs. Once seasonal club allocations have been made, some fields may be booked on a casual basis.
Celebrate your wedding in one of our many venues all over the city and Banks Peninsula.
You can enjoy the ambience of the Botanic Gardens, neighbourhood parks, the open beaches or heritage halls.
If you want to quickly make a casual booking, the guest checkout option makes this easy and convenient.
To make the most of the available features on the portal, register for a MyChristchurch account. Through your account, you can view your booking history, request changes online and save your details for next time. Not-for-profit community groups can also apply for our concession rates.
If you want to find out more about MyChristchurch, please visit our website, or you can contact us at info@ccc.govt.nz.
We accept Mastercard and Visa debit or credit card payments for walk-in and online transactions. Cash payments can be made for most spaces at any of our Customer Service and Recreation and Sport Centres.
You can phone us to make a booking, however, the booking will need to be paid for prior to the booking being confirmed.
It’s important to note that for most library spaces, payment is exclusively managed through invoices, allowing bank transactions and online payments only. This means that direct payments cannot be accepted in libraries. Please ensure to arrange your payments accordingly.
Not-for-profit community groups are eligible for our concession prices. As a casual user, you will see the standard pricing for our spaces. If you register a My Christchurch account as an organisation and provide the necessary documentation, you will be able to see concession prices when browsing venues. These prices are only visible if you’re logged into your account.
This charge is applied to all community facility bookings finishing in the evening or bookings where alcohol is served or consumed. A security guard will attend after the booking ends to check that the facility has been locked and is secure, clean, and undamaged.
Not all community facilities can be booked after hours or allow the consumption of alcohol. Please check the facility description and venue information for after-hours arrangements.
The community facilities listed in the table below are open on an as-needed basis, so venue hirers are responsible for opening and locking up these venues.
