Understanding how Christchurch is governed and managed gives you the opportunity to easily find information and, should you wish to, get involved and influence decision-making.
During the COVID-19 emergency period, Christchurch has made special arrangements to be governed by an Emergency Committee, chaired by Mayor Lianne Dalziel and including every councillor. It will have the decision-making authority of the Council, but won’t be able to do things like set a rate, make or amend bylaws, or adopt the Annual Plan.
All scheduled hearings, committee and community board meetings are cancelled while the Emergency Committee is in place.
