Mairehau Road - wastewater renewal

What

We’re replacing wastewater pipes along several streets in Burwood, we are currently working in Greenhaven Drive and will shortly start work commence in Mairehau Road, it is likely the wastewater works will finish August 2026. At the same time, we’re also installing cabling channels for the intersection upgrade to assist that project which will follow the wastewater works

Why

The existing pipes have reached the end of their service life and need replacing. The intersection is being upgraded with traffic lights, we are taking advantage of the wastewater works to install cable ducts for control.

Where

Mairehau Road between Greenhaven Drive and Burwood Road, Burwood.

When

21 April 2026 to 29 May 2026. Monday to Friday, 7.30am to 6pm. Wet weather delays and the extent of the ducting works may alter the completion date.

Coordinating works on Mairehau Road

We’re coordinating two projects to minimise disruption for residents and traffic.

  • Wastewater renewal starting near Greenhaven Drive.
  • Installing cabling channels ahead of intersection upgrades at Burwood Road/Mairehau Road.

The wastewater works require a road closure on Mairehau Road between Greenhaven Drive and Burwood Road; we are utilising this closure to install cabling channels for the intersection upgrade and installation of new underground power cables.

Traffic management:

  • Lane closures and detours will be in place.
  • Detours will change as work progresses - please follow signage and contractor instructions.
  • On-street parking will be restricted where work is happening (cones will indicate no-parking areas).
  • Our contractor will liaise with residents about vehicle and pedestrian access.
  • Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

Property access, bin collection and disruption

  • Let us know if you have specific access needs (medical visits, deliveries, etc.)
  • Put rubbish bins out by 6am on collection day – our team will move and return them if needed.
  • Expect increased noise, dust and vibration. We'll do our best to minimise impacts.
