Glandovey / Heaton / Rossall / Strowan intersection – signal upgrades

What

We’re upgrading the traffic signals at the intersection of Glandovey Road, Heaton Street, Rossall Street, and Strowan Road as part of a project to upgrade traffic signals in this area.

Why

These signals are at the end of their service life and need to be replaced.

The intersection of Glandovey Road, Heaton Street, Rossall Street and Strowan Road, Fendalton.

When

Sunday 19 April 2026 to Friday 8 May 2026, 7pm to 6am (night works), and Monday 11 May 2026 to Friday 22 May 2026, 7am to 6pm (day works), (weather/site condition dependent).

Details

From the evening of Sunday 19 April 2026, we’ll be upgrading the traffic signals at the Glandovey Road, Heaton Street, Rossall Street, and Strowan Road intersection.

We’ll be working in the evenings for the first three weeks of the project, we’ll then swap to day shift for the following two weeks of work.

Impacts:

Sunday 19 April to Friday 8 May 2026, 7pm to 6am

  • At times, Strowan Road and Rossall Street will close at the intersection.
  • At times, a stop/go system will be in place at all approaches to the intersection.
  • During the day, traffic will be able to travel through the intersection from all directions.
  • At times, our team may be on site during the day completing more minor works.

Monday 11 May to Friday 22 May 2026, 7am to 6pm

  • At times, a stop/go system will be in place at all approaches to the intersection.

Properties directly impacted by the works will receive specific information in their letterbox regarding traffic impacts.

Information for road users

  • Some traffic management will remain in place during the day to protect our worksite.
  • Cyclists will need to merge with traffic through the site.
  • We'll need to temporarily remove on-street parking to allow space for the works.
  • Please take note of all signage.
  • A 30km/h speed limit will be in place so we can keep our team and everyone safe.

Information for residents and businesses

  • Access to properties will be impacted at times. We'll provide advanced warning where possible.
  • We will help people to get around the site. Please advise our team if you have specific requirements e.g. medical visits, large deliveries, home help or any planned works.
  • There will be increased construction noise and vibration at times, and we will do our best to keep this to a minimum.
  • The work will have no impact on any services such as electricity, telecommunications and gas.
  • The timing of the work and certain activities will depend on the weather and the roads.
  • Please put your bins out as usual by 6am on your collection day. Our team will move them and return them.

We know this work can be disruptive and we appreciate your co-operation and understanding.
