Details
What are we doing?
From Monday 16 March we will begin essential upgrade works to replace and relocate the water supply and stormwater pipes beneath the Main South Road, Kirk Road, and Trents Road intersection. These improvements are necessary to support the reliability and long‑term performance of the local network. We're coordinating these works with other Council projects in the Templeton area and working hard to minimise the disruption to residents, businesses and commuters.
The work will involve earthworks, pipe installation and road renewal with construction impacts including noise, vibration and dust. Work will be done under day shifts between 6am and 6pm for the majority of these works. We’ll be doing night shifts between 6pm and 6am to seal the intersection over the week of Monday 20 April to Friday 24 April.
Temporary water outages will occur for switching over from old to new connections – impacted properties will be notified five days prior to scheduled outages.
Traffic Impacts
Please see below for a map of the work location and indications of the road closure periods.
Temporary Road Closures and Detour Routes
- 16 March to 2 April – Trents Road will be closed at the intersection with Main South Road. Detour via Shands Road → Hamptons Road → Waterholes Road → SH1.
- 30 March to 17 April – Kirk Road will be closed at the intersection with Main South Road. Detour via Waterloo Road → Pound Road.
Detour routes will be sign-posted. Please allow extra travel time if you will be affected by the closures.
Pedestrian Access
- Pedestrian access remains available throughout the works via clearly marked routes, with signage in place to guide foot traffic safely around construction areas.

Where are we working?
Below shows an indicative work zone. Road closures will include full traffic management to close turn lanes and turn bays as necessary.
Noise
There may be increased noise, dust and vibrations during work but it shouldn’t impact on your power, water, gas or phone services.
Safety
Safety is our biggest priority so please keep children and pets away from worksites.
Bins
Please put your bins out as usual before 6am on your collection day. Our crew will move and return them if needed.
