What

We’re removing the building on the southwest corner of the Hereford Street and Barbadoes Street intersection.

Why

We’re clearing the site to provide parking for event staff working at the One New Zealand Stadium at Te Kaha.

When

16 March 2026 to 20 March 2026, Monday to Friday, 7am to 6pm (weather/site condition dependent).

Details

From Monday 16 March, we'll be demolishing the building on the southwest corner of the Hereford Street and Barbadoes Street intersection.

 

Impacts:

  • Footpath closures will be in place near the work site, please follow pedestrian detour routes in place.
  • Traffic flow will not be restricted.

Information for road users

  • Cyclists will need to merge with traffic through the site.
  • We will temporarily remove on-street parking to allow space for the works.
  • Please follow all signage and crew directions.
  • A 30 km/h speed limit will be in place so we can keep our team and everyone safe.

Information for residents and businesses

  • We will help people to get around the site. Please advise our team if you have specific requirements e.g. medical visits, large deliveries, home help or any planned works.
  • There will be increased construction noise and vibration at times, and we will do our best to keep this to a minimum.
  • Work will have no impact on any services such as electricity, telecommunications and gas.
  • The timing of the work and certain activities will depend on the weather and the roads.

We know this work can be disruptive and we appreciate your co-operation and understanding.
