Tikao Bay - jetty repairs

What

We are undertaking structural repairs to the Tikao Bay jetty.

Why

We undertake periodic maintenance on our marine structures, and this wharf sustained earthquake and storm damage, which has contributed to its current condition.

Where

Works will take place adjacent to, beneath and on the Tikao Bay jetty, located on Tikao Bay Road, Banks Peninsula.

When

8 December 2025 to late January 2026. Monday to Saturday, 7am to 7pm. (weather/site condition dependent). Extended hours may be required for certain activities to align with the tide cycle.

The contractor is Hunter Civil. Phone 03 381 7094, Monday to Friday, 7.30am to 5.30pm. Please advise if you have specific property access requirements e.g. medical visits, home help, large vehicle deliveries, planned works.

Details

Traffic Impacts

  • On-street parking will be affected in areas where work is taking place. Cones will indicate where parking is unavailable.

Impacts On Jetty Users

  • The jetty will remain closed until repair work is completed for both pedestrian and marine vessel use. Signs and fencing will be installed to indicate closure.
  • The nearest wharves available for docking marine vessels are Akaroa Main Wharf and Wainui Wharf.
  • There will be increased noise from machinery used for activities such as piling and timber installation.
  • There will be no restrictions on access to adjacent properties
