Details

We’re fully reconstructing the road and footpath on Slater Street between Shirley Road and Warden Street.

To undertake this work safely, we will install a temporary southbound one-way system on Slater Street from Shirley Road to Warden Street.

Impacts on traffic

  • There will be no-entry to the northernmost block of Slater Street from Warden Street. Signposted detours, east and west, will be in place for northbound traffic.
  • Residents in this block of Slater Street will need to approach from Shirley Road and use the southbound one-way system to access their properties. Street exiting will be via Warden Street. See the section below for more information about impacts to property access.
  • The speed limit will be reduced to 30km/h through our work site.
  • Please follow all signage and the instructions of staff on site.
  • At times, we may need to close one end of Slater Street. If required, we will advise you closer to the time.

Property access and other impacts of work

  • At times, access to private property will be restricted. Please advise our team if you have specific requirements e.g. medical visits, large deliveries, home help or any planned work.
  • At times, on-street parking will be temporarily removed while we work in the area.
  • The contractors site office will be based in the carpark of the Shirley Community Reserve. Please be aware of trucks crossing.  Public parking will be unavailable here during the construction period.
  • There will be increased construction noise and vibrations at times, and we’ll do our best to keep this to a minimum.
  • The work will have no impact on any services such as electricity, telecommunications.
  • The timing of the work and certain activities will depend on the weather and the roads. We’ll provide updates if there are changes to the planned works.
  • Please put your bins out as usual by 6am on your collection day. Our team will move them and return them if needed.

See below a map of the area that we will be working in and the detour routes that will be in place.

  • Blue arrow: Vehicles travelling east will be detoured via Warden Street, Stapletons Road, and Shirley Road respectively.
  • Pink arrow: Vehicles travelling west will be detoured via Warden Street, Hills Road, and Shirley Road.
