Details
From Wednesday 2 July 2025, we'll begin work to renew the water main on a section of Grassmere Street and the Papanui Parallel Cycleway (between Grants Road and Rutland Street).
We'll split our work up into 3 zones, which can be seen on the map below. We'll begin work on Zone 2. We will deliver a separate notice prior to beginning Zone 1 and 3 of the works.
To complete this work, we'll need to close a section of the Papanui Parallel Cycleway. A detour will be in place for cyclists and pedestrians, which can also be seen on the map below.
While this is in place:
- Cyclists and pedestrians traveling northbound and southbound on the Papanui Parallel Cycleway will need to follow the detour route.
- There will be traffic management in place, so please follow all signage, detours and instructions from our crew.
- We'll reduce traffic management impacts when it is safe to do so.
- Water supply to your property will be maintained, with a separate notice being given if shutoff is required.
- The works may result in increased dust, noise, and vibrations.
- Access to properties and businesses will be impacted at times, but we'll provide advance notice of this wherever possible.
- Please expect disruption to access in the working area.
- Please advise if you have any specific property access requirements e.g., medical visits, home help, large vehicle access, deliveries, or any planned works etc.

Noise
There may be increased noise, dust and vibrations during work but it shouldn’t impact on your power, water, gas or phone services.
Safety
Safety is our biggest priority so please keep children and pets away from worksites.
Bins
Please put your bins out as usual before 6am on your collection day. Our crew will move and return them if needed.
