We are doing remedial work in the footpath and centre island area to enhance safety for pedestrians crossing at this location.

Some elements of this pedestrian crossing need improvement for enhanced safety and accessibility.

Pedestrian crossing near Te Aratai College on Aldwins road, Phillipstown.

When

Tuesday, 10 June 2025 to Wednesday, 11 June 2025 and Tuesday, 17 June 2025. 7pm to 6am (weather and site condition dependent).

Details

We are doing safety improvements at the pedestrian crossing on Aldwins Road.

These works are required to take place at night to minimise the impact on the high volume of traffic that passes through this intersection during the day.

The works include, but are not limited to:

  • Asphalt cutting and removal
  • Removal of line marking
  • Application of new asphalt
  • Realignment of tactile pavers

Application of new line marking will take place on the night of Tuesday, 17 June 2025.

Our contractors will do their utmost to complete the noisiest of the works early in the night to minimise the impact to residents in the area.

Traffic impacts

Detours

  • A southbound lane closure will be in place on Aldwins Avenue around the work area, with traffic merged into a single lane. Please follow the signposted route and temporary lowered speed limit.
  • Access out of the southern exit of Promisia Aldwins care facility will be managed by site crew as required.
  • Please adhere to all signage in place and follow the instructions of the crew where required.
  • Please allow extra travel time if you will be affected by the lane closures.

Pedestrian access

Pedestrian access will be available via marked routes with signs advising where to go.
