The significant wastewater pipe upgrade started in September 2024 and will be finished mid-2026. Parts of this upgrade are now completed (Clyde Road, Creyke Road and the intersection of Creyke/Ilam/Maidstone Roads). The next stage involves work along Maidstone Road, which is expected to take until mid-2026 to complete.
The contractor will start with trenching and excavation works down Maidstone Road in a westerly direction.

Traffic impacts
There will be traffic management in place while the work is being completed, including shoulder and lane closures, one-way systems and the temporary removal of on-street parking. We will update you about any changes as the project progresses.
The main traffic impact during this next stage is:
There will be no entry to Maidstone Road from Waimairi Road. Signposted detours will be in place for affected traffic travelling east. A 30km/h speed limit will be in place so we can keep our workers and everyone safe.
Traffic management currently in place will be removed. Ilam Road will reopen at the intersection of Creyke/Ilam/Maidstone Roads, and on Creyke Road, two-way traffic will be reinstated.
Please follow the signage and keep an eye out for changes in traffic management.
