Aorangi Road - investigation works

What

We’ll be working on the road investigating the location of underground services.

Why

These works will confirm what is under the road. This will help us to plan the most efficient construction approach for several large projects in the area from late 2024.

Where

Aorangi Road (between Condell Avenue and Wairakei Road), Bryndwr.

When

6 May 2024 for approximately three weeks. Monday to Friday, 7am to 6pm (weather/site condition dependent).

Contact

The contractor is Isaac Construction. Phone Hayley Ching on 027 323 6279 or email communications@isaac.co.nz. Please advise Hayley if you have any specific property access requirements e.g. medical visits, large deliveries, home help and any planned works.

Details

We'll be doing some investigation work on Aorangi Road (between Condell Avenue and Wairakei Road) from Monday 6 May for up to three weeks.

This is part of an investigation works package that also includes Matsons Avenue and Condell Avenue.

This package of work will help us plan the most efficient construction approach for the following projects:

    • Matsons Avenue & Aorangi Road kerb and channel renewals
    • The next stage of the Nor'West Arc Cycleway
    • Matsons Avenue and Aorangi Road wastewater renewal
    • Condell Avenue street renewals

Investigation work is required to understand the underground service locations and condition, as well as any potential clashes or risks to construction.

Construction of some of these projects is not programmed to begin until later in 2024. We'll provide more information closer to the time.

As these projects are located in the same area, we're using this opportunity to combine our investigation work.

Information for residents and businesses:

  • Access to properties and businesses for vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained around the work site where possible.
  • We’ll help people get around the site. Please advise our team if you have specific requirements e.g. medical visits, large deliveries, home help or any planned works.
  • At times, we’ll need to remove on-street parking to allow space for the works, and to keep everyone safe.
  • There will be increased construction noise and vibration at times, and we’ll do our best to keep this to a minimum.
  • The work will have no impact on any services such as water, electricity, telecommunications, and gas.
  • The timing of the work and certain activities will depend on the weather and the roads. We’ll provide updates if there are changes to the planned works.
  • Please put your bins out as usual by 6am on your collection day. Our team will move them and return them if needed.

Information for road users:

  • Temporary traffic management (road cones, signs) will be installed as part of the works. There may be some traffic delays and changes to traffic management. Please follow all signage and instructions from our team onsite.
  • We’ll put a number of traffic management layouts in place to keep our team safe while we complete this work. There will be a one way system with stop/go for the intersection at Christian Street and the intersection at Wallace Street.
  • A 30 km/h speed limit will be in place so we can keep our team and everyone safe.
