Details

We’re converting all streetlights in the city to energy-efficient LED lighting, reducing carbon emissions and costs.

Previously during a project to change the street lighting in Scotson Avenue, residents of Jed Lane informed us that they did not want the single existing streetlight in the lane to remain on.

As a result, the light was disconnected and has not been operational since. We are now replacing the single streetlight in Jed Lane to LED but it will remain switched off until such a time that it may be required. Under our consent conditions with properties along Jed Lane, we need the ability to turn on the light if required.

If you are opposed to the new LED streetlight remaining off please contact Christchurch City Council Project Manager Andrew Cameron at andrew.cameron@ccc.govt.nz

The new lighting has been designed to conform to the Australian/New Zealand Road Lighting Standard. In some incidences lights will be brighter for several days until they are set to their correct wattage. This is done remotely through the streetlight network management system.

Please note the following:

  • We won’t need to interrupt your household power supply while we complete this work.
  • We will not need to dig up Jed Lane to install the new LED light.
