We are renewing the watermain pipe and submain pipes on Glandovey Road and Pentlow Place, as they have reached the end of their serviceable life.

Due to recent incidents involving burst water pipes along Glandovey Road, between Thornycroft Street and Idris Road, and along Pentlow Place, we are prioritising a full water supply renewal. The watermain is located underground in the road, while the submains are the pipes that feed each property, and these can be located under the road, footpath and berm.

Investigative potholing

To support the design and installation of the watermain and submain renewal, we are starting with potholing works to investigate the exact position of existing services underground.

Work started on Thursday 21 August 2025, and is expected to take between 1 and 2 weeks.

Two-way travel is being maintained, but a temporary road layout will be in place. See the start works notice(external link).

Main works

The renewal works, which are expected to take three months, involve pumping underground water, trenching and excavation works, and the installation of 765 metres of new mains and 835 metres of new submains. At the end of this project, the road will be completely reinstated with new asphalt.

We began work along Pentlow Place on Monday 1 September 2025, and this will take approximately one month to complete. A temporary road closure will be in place during work hours (7.30am to 5pm). See the start works notice.(external link)

Work on Glandovey Road is also expected to begin in September, but a start date has not been confirmed. More information will be shared as it becomes available.
