Write On - Learning and Living in Ōtautahi Christchurch
Writing workshops for young people in collaboration with the Christchurch Archaeology Project, using artefacts to inspire new writing.
The Write On School for Young Writers will hold three separate writing workshops for young people aged 11 to 18. These will engage young people in aspects of our heritage and they will be guided to write in response to their discoveries.
The Christchurch Archaeology Project team will display and talk about artefacts discovered during the Christchurch rebuild – some of these will have an education focus in response to this year's festival theme. The young people, under the guidance of Write On tutors, will then write in response using both short prose and poetry.
Our tutors are all experienced writers who know how to inspire and mentor young people to give voice to their ideas. Completed writing will be published on the Write On blog, with potential to create a zine.
