St David's – From the Present to the Past
Visit an open day at the historic St David's Church, designed by well-known Christchurch architect Samuel Hurst Seager.
The Arts and Crafts style church, which opened in 1903, has been refurbished to retain the historic, architectural and spiritual significance of this Category II listed building. Information on the history of the church, and its recent refurbishment, will be available along with a five-minute video presentation with a focus on the architecture of this lovely building.
Many sacrifices were made in the early days with Vestryman William Nicholls providing funds for a new church. There were approximately 290 families living in Belfast of whom about 130 belonged to the Anglican Church. Funds were raised by parishioners, along with a loan of up to 250 pounds, to enable the building of the new church to proceed.
The church, built as a memorial to the early settlers of Belfast, is steeped in history. We look forward to welcoming you to this special place.
Afternoon tea will be provided free of charge with ample car parking at the rear of the building.
