How did the landscape of Banks Peninsula form?

Explore the rocks of Victoria Park to find out how and when the peninsula formed. Examine outcrops, map features, while observing and thinking like a geologist.

Victoria Park hosts easily accessible geological exposures that allow insights into the geological events that formed Te Pātaka o Rākaihautū Banks Peninsula.

Newly designed learning activities have been created, enabling self-led learning of these exposures while exploring the environments of Victoria Park.

Come along and find out about the natural environment of Banks Peninsula and Christchurch.

The Geopark Team will be onsite to share their knowledge, through activities, rock samples, and short guided experiences.

Due to weather on 15 October this event has been rescheduled to 28 October
