The museum is one of New Zealand’s largest insect collections, with over 250,000 pinned specimens. It was first established in the late 1960s and includes specimens dating back to the 1880s. The collection’s specimens are largely from New Zealand’s South, Chatham, and sub-Antarctic islands.
For aspiring entomologists, this is also a registered Children’s University learning event. Earn up to 1.5 hours for your Passport.
