Christchurch Conversations: Communicating climate change

A speaker event exploring how we can effectively communicate climate change with care and consideration and in a way that inspires action.

Everyone has a part to play in addressing the climate crisis. The first step is normalising conversations about it and realising that it is something we can discuss safely. How do we effectively communicate climate change with care and consideration and in a way that inspires action? What sorts of words, information and approaches should we use to engage, empower and inspire people and governments to act? How do we address the paralysis that comes from climate overwhelm?

Join us for this vital Christchurch Conversation where we consider a range of approaches to making our words count.

Hear from:

  • Martha Jeffries, filmmaker and climate change communications specialist
  • Kera Sherwood-O’Regan (Kāi Tahu, Waitaha, Kāti Māmoe), climate justice advocate and social change strategist
  • Lucia Campbell-Reeves, student activist & former School Strikes 4 Climate Change organiser
  • Rose Challies (Terra Nova Foundation)

Panel chaired by Professor Donald Matheson (Media and Communications, University of Canterbury).
