A walk back in time around Canterbury College

Join the knowledgeable guides from WALK Christchurch on a walk-through time exploring the past history of The Arts Centre site, once home to Canterbury College.

A walk back in time will explore the former buildings of Canterbury College, which were built from the 1870s onwards. Canterbury College was renamed Canterbury University College in 1933 before becoming the University of Canterbury in 1957.

The 23 buildings in the centre of the city are now the home of Te Matatiki Toi Ora The Arts Centre.

Relive the stories of this amazing collection of historical buildings and spaces, home to generations of faculty and students.

The meeting point for the walk is on the ground floor of the Clock Tower at 2 Worcester Boulevard. Please wear comfortable shoes and bring an umbrella if it is wet.
