Christchurch City Council enables customers to process certain types of online transactions through this website.

Online Services

Online services are provided through a secure website using SSL (secure socket layer) encryption. All such Online Services shall be subject to these Terms and Conditions for Online Services, and the Terms of Use of the Christchurch City Council website.

The Christchurch City Council Online Services is available for your personal and/or internal business purposes; provided that you do not remove any proprietary rights notices, do not modify the information or make it available to third parties through a networked computer environment and do not make any additional representations or warranties regarding the information.

You agree to allow the Christchurch City Council to collect information about you (including information about transactions processed by you) from time to time through this website. Any such information collected will be treated in accordance with the Christchurch City Council Privacy Statement.

Online payment terms

Online payment terms for transactions completed online through the Council's website.

Certain transactions can be done online through the Council's website. All such transactions are subject to these terms and conditions as well as the Council's Website Terms of Use. The Council may vary these terms and conditions from time to time without notification and it is your responsibility to ensure that you are familiar with them.

Please read these online payment terms carefully.

1. Use of online transactions
The Council makes online transactions available for your personal and/or internal business purposes. You may use information provided to you through your online transactions solely for your personal and/ or internal business purposes, provided that you do not remove any propriety rights notices, do not modify the information or make it available to third parties through a networked computer environment and do not make any additional representations or warranties regarding the information.

2. Information and privacy
You hereby authorise the Council to receive and collect information about you (including information about your online transactions) from time to time through the Christchurch City Council website. Any such information collected shall be treated in accordance with the Christchurch City Council privacy policy. Christchurch City Council may only disclose information about you (including your identity) to a third party if the Christchurch City Council is requested to do so in the course of a criminal or the legal investigation, or if the Christchurch City Council determines that disclosure is necessary in connection with any complaint regarding your use of the site. 3. Accounts
Certain online transactions offered by the Council may require a login ID and password for verification of your identity to access the online transactions. You agree that all information provided to the Council by you in relation to your account shall be current, complete and accurate. Your use of a Council account is subject to these terms and conditions as well as the Council Website Terms of Use. You agree to comply with all such terms and conditions in respect of your use of online transactions.

4. Password security
If you are required to select a password, the Council recommends the password you select should not relate to any readily accessible data such as your name, birth date, address, telephone number, driver's licence, licence plate or passport.

Nor may it be an obvious combination of letters and numbers, including sequential or same numbers or letters. You are entirely responsible for maintaining the security of your login ID and password, and for all activity which occurs on or through your account, whether authorised or unauthorised, including use by current and former employees if you are a corporate entity. You should change your password immediately if you believe that your login ID and password have been used without authorisation and advise the Council of this. The Council shall not have any liability for your failure to comply with these obligations.

5. Security
Transactions Processing Services are provided through a secure website. However, you acknowledge and agree that internet transmissions are never entirely secure or private, and that any message or information you send to or through the Council website and while using online transactions (including credit card information) may be read or intercepted by others, even where a website is stated as being secure. The Council shall have no liability for the interception or 'hacking' of any data through the Council website or any other website by unauthorised third parties.

6. Your warranties 
In using any Council online transactions you represent and warrant that:

  • You are over 18 and have legal capacity to contract in New Zealand.
  • You have the appropriate authority to validly accept the Online Payment Terms and are able to and will meet your obligations in relation to these Terms.
  • If you are using a credit card to process a transaction, you represent and warrant that the credit card is issued in your name and that you shall pay to the issuer all charges incurred while using online transactions.

7. Accuracy of transaction information
Before completing an online transaction with the Council, you will be presented with a confirmation screen verifying the transaction details you wish to process. It is your responsibility to verify that all transaction, credit card/account information and other details are correct. You should print the transaction confirmation for future reference and your files. The Council shall have no liability for transactions which are incorrect as a result of inaccurate data entry in the course of any online transactions, or for loss of data or information caused by factors outside of the Council’s control. This includes the information supplied as part of the application.

8. Limitation of liability
Except as expressly prohibited by law, in no event will the Council be liable to you for any direct, indirect, consequential, exemplary, incidental or punitive damages, including lost profits, even where the Council has been advised of the possibility of such damages occurring. If, notwithstanding the foregoing, the Council is found to be liable to you for any damage or loss which arises as a result of your use of the website, Christchurch City Council’s liability shall not exceed the dollar amount of the transaction which formed the basis of the damage or $100.00, whichever is the lesser. Some jurisdictions do not permit the exclusion of implied warranties, and if you are in one of those jurisdictions these exclusions may not apply to you.

9. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify the Council for any loss, cost or expense suffered or incurred by the Council as a result of

  • Your breach of your obligations under the Online Payment Terms.
  • Intentional misuse of the Services.
  • Your negligent acts or omissions.
  • Any claim brought against the Council by a third party in relation to your use of the Services.

10. Right to suspend, alter or cancel service 
The Council shall be entitled at any time without prior notice or any liability to you, to cancel or suspend any or all online services and/or to substitute alternative services, which may or may not be interactive or transactional in nature.

11. Specific additional service terms and conditions for online transactions
You acknowledge that certain online transactions made available or offered by the Council from time to time may be subject to specific additional terms and conditions, and you agree to review and comply with any such additional terms and conditions. Access and use of any online services shall be deemed to constitute acceptance of any such additional terms and conditions applicable to such service.

12. Jurisdiction 
These terms and conditions and the online services they cover are governed by New Zealand law. The New Zealand Courts have exclusive jurisdiction over any matter in connection with the online services and these terms and conditions.

13. Support hours 
The Council provides customer support for online services between the hours of 8.00am to 5.00pm ( Monday to Friday). All queries outside these hours will be logged and attended to during office hours.

14. Refunds policy 
Refunds, if any, will be at the entire discretion of the Council and will be subject to any specific additional terms and conditions in respect of the Online Transaction. It may be stated in the specific additional terms and conditions that no refund will be available. A request for a Refund must be made in writing. Any refunds made will be for the invoice amount and will not include any transaction service fee charged by BNZ.

15. Christchurch City Council website terms of use
These Online Payment terms form part of the Christchurch City Council Website Terms of use, which apply to general Council website usage. By agreeing to comply with the Online Payment Terms you also agree to comply with the Council Website Terms of Use. If there is a conflict between the Council Website Terms of Use and these Terms, the Online Payment Terms shall prevail.


The information in this privacy statement applies to personal and other information collected on www.ccc.govt.nz.

Personal information

You can browse the website without providing any personal information. The website does not automatically collect any personal information about you.

Site use information

However, when you visit this website we automatically log some non-personal information, namely:

  • the IP addresses from which you accessed the site;
  • the terms you used to search for content on the site;
  • the pages you accessed;
  • the last site you visited before coming to this site ; and the type of browser and operating system you use, and your screen resolution.

This information cannot be used to identify you and will be used only for the purposes of system administration, reporting within the Council, and to audit the use of the site. 


Christchurch City Council websites use Google Analytics (a service that provides aggregated reports on website activity) to further understand how the website can be improved.  Google Analytics relies on the use of cookies, which are small files stored on your computer.  For detail on what information is collected via these cookies, and how it is stored and used, see Google's privacy policy(external link).

Meeting webcasts

The Christchurch City Council webcasts and holds records of its public meetings. This is in the public interest to have transparent and accessible decision-making at public meetings.

The footage will be publicly available and can be accessed on our website. The Council holds the information through its agent Tandem Studios.

Most of the filming will cover elected members as they speak and debate at the meeting. The filming may also include shots of the public in the background and anyone speaking at public forum.

Privacy Act

The Christchurch City Council is required to comply with the provisions of the Privacy Act 1993.  Personal information is collected, held and used in accordance with the principles set out in that Act.  In particular, the Council will:

  1. use personal information only for the purpose for which it is collected;
  2. retain personal information only for as long as is necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected;
  3. release personal information to a third party only when required to or permitted to by law, if you have authorised the release or where disclosure is connected to the purpose for which the information was collected.

You may inquire about and seek access to personal information about you or request information under the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 by contacting the Council.

Public internet service


Welcome to Christchurch City Council (Council) free public internet service (the service). Your use of the service is governed by the terms set out below. It is important that users read and follow these terms. If you do not accept these terms, you may not use the service.

By using this service you agree that:

  • You are responsible for the safety, security, configuration of your equipment and data, including antivirus software.
  • Your use of the service is at your own risk. Council does not accept liability for any loss or damage to equipment and data or any other loss or damage you may suffer through your use of the service. If Council is liable to you for any reason, our liability will not exceed $10 for any event or series of related events, and $100 in aggregate. However, nothing in these terms limit your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 (CGA) or the Fair Trading Act 1986 (FTA).   • Council does not guarantee the security of the service (and that you use the service at your own risk), that the service will be compatible with your equipment, or that the service will be available at all times, uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components.
  • Council has no control over the information transmitted via the service and Council will not be responsible in relation to the same.
  • The service provides a level of web content filtering to exclude racist, violent, pornographic or other offensive content, but Council accepts no liability for any data or content that you access or receive via the service, and you will not use the service in any way that a reasonable person would consider objectionable or offensive.
  • The service is monitored with a secure log of all use, including websites visited.
  • We may collect personal information about you in connection with your use of the service such as Internet Protocol address and websites visited. You acknowledge that we may use and disclose such information to help us improve the service, to communicate with you, to protect our rights and enforce these terms, and for any other related purpose. Commenting on a Council social media channel

  • Christchurch City Council agencies share information, images and video with the public through external social media websites. Comments made by the public to these sites are reviewed and, while comments will not be edited by Council personnel, a comment may be deleted if it violates the comment policy described here.
  • Comments should be related to the posted topic for the Council's social media page or post. Christchurch City agency social media accounts are not meant for comments that do not directly relate to the purpose or topic of the social media website. 
  • You are subject to the Terms of Service (TOS) of the host site. Information (photos, videos, etc.) you share with or post to official Christchurch City Council social media pages is also subject to the TOS of the host site and may be used by the owners of the host site for their own purposes.   • Christchurch City Council social media channels are not open to comments promoting or opposing any person campaigning for election to a political office, or promotion or advertisement of a business or commercial transaction.
  • The use of obscene, threatening or harassing language is prohibited.
  • Personal attacks of any kind or offensive comments that target or disparage any ethnic, racial, age, or religious group, gender, sexual orientation or disability status are prohibited.
  • Comments advocating illegal activity or posting of material that violates copyrights or trademarks of others are prohibited.
  • This comment policy is subject to amendment or modification at any time.

User-created content

Users are welcome to submit or post content, including photographs and videos, to an official Christchurch City Council social media site where the channel allows users to post content, the content meets the standards articulated in this Customer Use Policy and pertains to the subject of the social media site. Users may only post their own, original content. Reproduced or borrowed content that reasonably appears to violate third party rights will be deleted.

ModerationWe ask that users be respectful in their comments.  We reserve the right to remove comments which are irrelevant, disrespectful, rude, abusive, or considered spam.

Terms of use

Effective from 12 September 2018.

1. Introduction

1.1 My Christchurch service
Christchurch City Council (referred to in these terms of use as we, us and our) provides a personalised online portal to access and request information in relation our products and services (referred to in these terms of use as My Christchurch). You may still access and request information in relation our products and services through our website (https://ccc.govt.nz/) and by calling our customer care centre on 03 941 8999.

1.2 Application of terms of use
These terms of use set out the basis on which we provide, and on which you may access and use, My Christchurch. You are deemed to have confirmed your acceptance of these terms of use by accessing and using My Christchurch. You will not be able to use My Christchurch if you do not accept these terms of use.

1.3 Privacy
The way in which we use personal information is explained in, and governed by, the My Christchurch privacy policy. By using My Christchurch, you accept, without limitation or qualification, the terms outlined in the My Christchurch privacy policy.

1.4 Permitted purposes
My Christchurch is intended to be used for the purposes of providing you with a means of:

  1. accessing information from us;
  2. requesting our products and services;
  3. providing feedback and suggestions to us; and
  4. making payments to us, (the above being the permitted purposes).

1.5 Hosting of My Christchurch
My Christchurch is hosted by our hosting provider and made available to you as an online service via an internet browser.

2. Access and registration

2.1 Access to My Christchurch
You may access My Christchurch by:

  1. accessing and logging into My Christchurch as a guest (guest); or
  2. creating and registering an account on My Christchurch (account) by:
    1. completing the registration process through the My Christchurch platform – if your registration is completed successfully, you will receive email confirmation; or
    2. using your credentials from certain third party social networking sites (eg Facebook, Twitter or Google accounts), where you will be prompted to set a password for your account on My Christchurch.

2.2 Existing information
We may link, match or join information provided in connection with your account to other information we hold about you, or that you provide through other sources (such as our snap, send, solve application) that we consider may be relevant to the information, services and products that you may require from us from time to time.

3. Grant of right of use to use My Christchurch

3.1 Right to use My Christchurch
Subject to these terms of use, we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sub-licensable right to use My Christchurch solely for the permitted purposes (refer to clause 1.4).

3.2 Separate terms of service
If you use My Christchurch to request products or services from us, you acknowledge and agree that the provision of such products and services may be subject to separate terms of service that are particular to those products or services. These are available from us on request.

3.3 Payments for services
We use third party service providers to process your payments through My Christchurch. If you elect to pay for our services and products through My Christchurch, you may be required to give us authorisation to charge your nominated credit card or debit card when payment is due for any amounts payable by you to us (including any applicable taxes and fees).

4. Our responsibilities

4.1 Access to My Christchurch
Subject to these terms of use, we will use reasonable endeavours to ensure My Christchurch is available other than when we need to suspend or restrict access to My Christchurch in order to carry out upgrades or other maintenance, or for operational or technical reasons. We do not guarantee that your access to, or use of, My Christchurch will be uninterrupted, error-free or virus-free.

4.2 Security
We will do everything reasonably within our power to prevent unauthorised use or disclosure of the personal information about you that we hold in accordance with the My Christchurch privacy policy. However, we do not warrant and cannot ensure the security of any information which you transmit to us and therefore any information which you transmit to us is transmitted at your own risk. You are responsible for ensuring the security of the personal information held on your computer, mobile or other device.

4.3 Notice of unavailability
We will give advance notice of any planned My Christchurch unavailability or outage by email or via the My Christchurch platform or our website.

5. Your information and responsibilities

5.1 Your information
You may update your information on your account through My Christchurch, including your name, phone number, and addresses (email and postal).

5.2 Warrant and authorisation

  1. warrant that all information you submit to My Christchurch, including information submitted as part of your registration under clause 2.1(b), is correct and accurate. If you register for an account in accordance with the process outlined in clause 2.1(b)(ii), you:
    1. warrant you are the owner of any such social media account and that you are entitled to disclose your social media login information to us; and
    2. authorise us to collect your authentication information and other information that may be available on or through your social media account consistent with your applicable setting and instructions; and
  2. acknowledge and agree that you have all necessary consents and authorisations from the relevant parties when submitting information to My Christchurch, including any personal information about other individuals.

5.3 Your responsibilities
You agree to:

  1. create and hold only one account on My Christchurch (but you can login as a Guest at any time, from time to time);
  2. only use My Christchurch for the permitted purposes;
  3. comply with our reasonable instructions relating to the access to, and use of, My Christchurch;
  4. take reasonable steps to ensure that all information you upload onto My Christchurch is correct and accurate;
  5. keep any username and password for your account secure and confidential and be responsible for all use of My Christchurch through your username and password, and on your account;
  6. comply with all applicable laws when accessing and using My Christchurch; and
  7. notify us of any actual or suspected unauthorised use of your username and password to access My Christchurch.

5.4 Prohibited acts
You must not:

  1. sub-license, assign, transfer, lease, rent, distribute or resell My Christchurch, or any rights to access or use My Christchurch to any other person; or 
  2. copy, modify, translate or otherwise create derivative works from any part of, or reverse engineer or decompile the whole or any part of, My Christchurch (or attempt to do so, or assist anyone else to do so);
  3. interfere with, or disrupt, the provision of My Christchurch or its use by anyone else; or
  4. upload, transmit, or distribute to or through My Christchurch any computer viruses, worms, or other software intended to interfere with the intended operation of a computer system, data or My Christchurch;
  5. use My Christchurch to harvest, collect, gather, or assemble information or data regarding My Christchurch or other users, except as permitted by these terms of use, our privacy policy, or any other agreement between you and us; and
  6. attempt to gain unauthorised access to My Christchurch, the server on which My Christchurch is stored, or any server, computer or database connected to My Christchurch.

6. Intellectual property and content

6.1 Ownership of intellectual property
All intellectual property in or relating to My Christchurch, including any new intellectual property developed by or on behalf of us in the course of providing My Christchurch or supporting or maintaining My Christchurch, is owned by us (or our licensors). Except as expressly provided in these terms of use, you may not copy, modify, distribute, publish, transmit or otherwise exploit the content on My Christchurch (content).

6.2 General information
My Christchurch is made available for the permitted purposes. From time to time content may include general information that we consider will be of interest to you. You expressly acknowledge and agree that

  1. any such information is intended to be for general information purposes only, and you must make your own assessment of the suitability of the information for your own purposes;
  2. you are solely responsible for the actions you take in reliance on the information on, or accessed through My Christchurch; and
  3. the information on, or accessed through My Christchurch does not constitute professional advice, and should not be relied on as such.

6.3 Use of content
You may access, view, reproduce and print the content, provided that:

  1. where the content has been provided to you in connection with any of our product or services, you may access, view, reproduce, use and print the content only to the extent required for the permitted purpose;
  2. you will only use content for information, non-commercial purposes, and any reproduction includes a prominent acknowledgement of our rights in the content; and

Although we try to ensure content is current, accurate and complete, we do not guarantee that the content will be current, accurate or completed when you access it. We will take action, within a reasonable time, to correct any error or inaccuracy that is brought to our attention.

6.5 Your content
You may contribute to the content by submitting feedback, comments, photos, files and other communications or material through My Christchurch. By submitting your content onto My Christchurch you warrant that:

  1. you have the necessary rights, power, consent and authorisation required to submit the your content, and to grant us rights to that content, in accordance with these terms of use; and
  2. your content does not contain any content which infringes on another person’s intellectual property or which is offensive, obscene, defamatory, discriminatory, inappropriate or contrary to any applicable laws (including the Harmful Digital Communication Act 2015). In the event that you breach this clause, without limiting any of our other rights or remedies, we may remove the relevant content or files from My Christchurch.

6.6 Licence to use your content
If you contribute any content to My Christchurch, you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, sub-licensable, perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive, transferable licence to use, copy and modify that content, including the right to make the content available for display, distribution, disclosure and publication on My Christchurch (subject to the My Christchurch privacy policy). All rights, title and interests in anything created as a result of the content, is and remains our property.

6.7 Updating content
We may at any time update, amend, or delete any content at any time and for any reason, including if you ask for us to correct content in connection with your details, or for a violation of these terms of use.

7. Liability and disclaimers

7.1 Liability exclusions
Subject to clause 7.4, to the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any errors and omissions, nor for:

  1. any direct or indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss or damage;
  2. any loss of data, profits, revenue, business or goodwill; or
  3. any damage to your device or the data held on your device,

arising out of or in connection with the use of My Christchurch or the data contained on it.

7.2 Limitation of liability
If notwithstanding the above, we are found to be liable to you for any damage or loss which arises as a result of your use of My Christchurch, our liability (whether in contract, tort or otherwise) will not exceed [$50.00].

7.3 Warranties excluded
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim and exclude all representations, warranties and conditions, whether express, implied or statutory, relating to My Christchurch, other than those representations, warranties and conditions identified expressly in these terms of use.

7.4 Consumer guarantees
Notwithstanding any other provision of these terms of use, nothing in these terms of use limit any rights you may have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 (CGA), provided that if you are in trade (as defined in the CGA) and are using My Christchurch in trade, you agree that the provisions of the CGA do not apply.

8. Suspension and termination

8.1 Suspension of operation
We may withdraw or suspend the operation of My Christchurch, or cease to provide and/or update content to My Christchurch, with or without notice to you, if we have reasonable grounds for doing so, including for security, legal or business reasons.

8.2 Suspension or termination of access
We may suspend and/or terminate your right to access and use My Christchurch, with immediate effect at any time, including where you have not complied with these terms of use. We will use all reasonable endeavours to notify you if we do so, except where we are prohibited from doing so under applicable law.

9. Third party website and services

9.1 Third party sites
My Christchurch may contain links to third party websites. These websites have not been prepared by us and are not controlled by us. They are provided for your convenience only, and do not imply that we check, endorse, approve or agree with those third party websites.

9.2 Third party services
We use, from time to time, third party features, products and services on My Christchurch, which may be available for you to use through My Christchurch. Use of such third party products and services are subject to compliance with the terms and conditions of the third party owners of the relevant features, products or services. The third party terms and conditions may, amongst other things, govern the ownership, use of, and access to the third party features, products or services.

10. Marketing and communications

You consent to us sending you marketing or promotional communications through My Christchurch about our services and products from time to time. You may unsubscribe from any marketing or promotional commutations by following the unsubscribe facilities in the communications that we send to you.

11. Amendments and updates

11.1 Amendments to these terms of use
We may from time to time amend these terms of use (at our absolute discretion) by providing notice of the amendments by email, on our website, and/or via My Christchurch. You should check these terms of use from time to time to check for any amendments. By continuing to use My Christchurch after any such amendment, you are deemed to have agreed to the amended Terms.

11.2 My Christchurch updates
We may from time to time, at our sole discretion, make available an updated or new version of My Christchurch, including to provide bug fixes and/or new, replacement or improved features or functionality. You acknowledge that there may be interruptions in service or access to My Christchurch, or access to your account due to circumstances both within our control (eg routine maintenance) and outside of our control. We may also choose to cease making My Christchurch available at any time.

12. General

12.1 Assignment
Your rights and obligations under these terms of use are personal to you and you may not assign or otherwise transfer any of your rights or obligations under these terms of use to any other person without our prior written consent. We may assign or transfer any or all of our rights or obligations under these terms of use at our sole discretion.

12.2 Force majeure
Neither you or us will be liable for any breach of these terms of use, if and for so long as this breach is a direct result of circumstances beyond the breaching party’s reasonable control.

12.3 Waiver
No waiver by you or us of your or our (as applicable) rights under these terms of use will be effective unless it is in writing.

12.4 Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms of use are governed by the laws of New Zealand, and any related disputes will be resolved by the New Zealand courts.

12.5 Entire agreement
These terms of use and the documents and information referred to in these terms of use record the entire agreement between you and us relating to My Christchurch.

12.6 Severability
If any provision of these terms of use is or becomes invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be deemed deleted from these terms of use. The invalidity or unenforceability of that provision will not affect the other provisions of these terms of use, all of which will remain in full force and effect to the extent permitted by law, subject to any modifications made necessary by the deletion of the invalid or unenforceable provision.

1.2 We take our responsibilities under the Privacy Act 1993 (Privacy Act) seriously. This privacy policy outlines how we collect, use and disclose your personal information.

1.3 The information in this privacy policy only applies to personal and other information in connection with My Christchurch, and does not apply to any of our other websites, online services, or mobile apps (which may have their own privacy policies). This privacy policy forms part of the My Christchurch terms of use.

1.4 We may change this privacy policy from time to time. We will give you notice of changes using My Christchurch by email, on our website, and/or via My Christchurch. You should check this privacy policy from time to time to check for any amendments. If you continue to use My Christchurch after the amendment, you will be considered to have accepted the amended privacy policy.

2. How we collect personal information

2.1 We collect personal information about you through My Christchurch in the following ways:

  1. through your registration, access to and use of My Christchurch, including when you make any updates to your My Christchurch account, or submit any requests, reports, feedback, suggestions and/or communications through the My Christchurch portal;
  2. when you contact us (eg through My Christchurch or our customer service representatives) with a query or request;
  3. through your use of applications or services we link to My Christchurch (such as snap send solve);
  4. from third parties you authorise to provide us with your personal information;
  5. through the provision of the information, products or services you request from us; and
  6. from our existing records, databases and/or systems, which may contain information that we hold about you from time to time.

2.2 You have the option to login and access My Christchurch as a guest. If you choose to login as a guest, unless you expressly provide us with your personal information, all information you submit to My Christchurch will not be held by us under, or in association with, your name.

3. What kind of personal information we collect

3.1 We collect the personal information you submit in connection with My Christchurch; or use of applications or services we link to My Christchurch (such as Snap Send Solve); or that is provided to us through our customer service representatives, including:

  1. your My Christchurch account information (eg username, password, preferences);
  2. your contact details (eg your name, telephone number, email and postal address);
  3. any other personal information you may provide (or authorise others to provide) to us from time to time, including:
    1. any personal information in any documents, files or photos shared with us;
    2. property or location information provided to us; and
    3. payment information (for example, record of debt and payments made by you); and
  4. records of your communications with us.

3.2 We automatically log some information which is, or may be, personal information when you use My Christchurch, including:

  1. information about your device, including your device type and unique device identifier, the version of the operating system you are using, and IP address;
  2. when you last accessed My Christchurch; and
  3. information relating to your use of My Christchurch.

3.3 If you have allowed My Christchurch to access your location data, we will collect GPS-level data about your precise location. We will use this information to locate the property or address of a corresponding request for services made by you to us.

3.4 If you do not provide us with the information we request from you from time to time, the services you are able to access through My Christchurch may be limited and we may not be able to provide you with all of the services or products or that you request from us.

4. How we use personal information

4.1 We may use information that we collect about you or that you provide to us in the following ways:

  1. to process and respond to your enquiries, requests, feedback, suggestions, or other communications submitted by you in relation to our services and products;
  2. to update any information that we currently hold about you in our existing records, databases or systems;
  3. to exercise any of our rights, or to perform any of our obligations, under the terms of use;
  4. for any specific purpose which we notify you of at the time your personal information is collected or for which we have your consent;
  5. to assist us with analysing the use of My Christchurch, and further developing and improving My Christchurch; and
  6. for our general administrative, maintenance, audit purposes and any other purposes permitted by, or required to comply with, any applicable law.

  1. to our business partners in order to respond to and fulfil any requests you made in relation to our services or products;

  4. with your authorisation or where we are otherwise permitted to do so by applicable law, including by way of example only to comply with our obligations under the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987.

5. How we protect and store information

5.1 Your information may be stored by us or by our service providers on our behalf. We have entered into appropriate arrangements requiring our hosting provider to keep the hosted information secure and confidential. We have done everything reasonably within our power to prevent unauthorised use or disclosure of that information.

5.2 We have implemented reasonable measures designed to keep your information safe and secure, and protected against loss, other misuse, and unauthorised access, use, modification, or disclosure.

6. Use of cookies and log files

6.1 We use cookies and analytics tools on My Christchurch:

  1. for session authentication purposes; and
  2. to collect information about how you use My Christchurch, such as to store information about your preferences.

6.2 A cookie is a small data file that the website or app sends to your device, which may be stored for later retrieval by the website or app. Some cookies we use last only for the duration of your website or app session and expire when you close your browser or exit the app. Other cookies are used to remember you when you return to My Christchurch and will last for longer.

6.3 If you reject cookies, you may still use My Christchurch, but your ability to use some of its features or functionality may be limited.

6.4 In addition to using cookies, we use Google analytics (a service that provides aggregated reports on website activity) to further understand how My Christchurch can be improved. 6.5 We may use non-personalised statistics about the use of My Christchurch to monitor site traffic, to analyse trends, to gather demographic information about our user base as a whole, to improve My Christchurch and to improve user experience. These anonymised and/or amalgamated statistics do not comprise of personal information.
