Street and Garden Awards were set up over 70 years ago to encourage civic pride and acknowledge those who have contributed to maintaining the image of Christchurch as the Garden City by beautifying their streets and gardens.
These awards are administered by the Christchurch Beautifying Association with the support of Christchurch City Council.
Gardens in all Community Board areas in Christchurch will be considered for Street and Garden Awards in 2021:

There is no application required.
Judges select award-winners by viewing all gardens citywide that are visible from the street. Judges take into account community effort (50 per cent), general appearance (30 per cent) and contributing gardens (20 per cent).
Preliminary judging: 16 January to 7 February 2021 (the same time as for Community Pride Garden Awards).
Final judging: 10 to 17 February 2021
Volunteer judges from the Christchurch Beautifying Association will visit 4,000 streets throughout Christchurch to select award-winning gardens citywide.
Early March 2021: Category winners of Street and Garden Awards will be listed in the Star newspaper.
Awards will be presented at a ceremony hosted by the Christchurch Beautifying Association in early April 2021.
Winning streets will receive a plaque to be hung prominently in the street, and each gardener in the street will be presented with a certificate.
16 January to 7 February 2021: Judges select streets citywide for nomination for Street and Garden Awards.
10 to 17 February 2021: Final judging for Street and Garden Awards.
Early March: Category winners of Street and Garden Awards will be listed in the Star newspaper.
Early April: Street and Garden Award presentation hosted by Christchurch Beautifying Association.
