Phil Mauger was born and bred in Christchurch and is committed to supporting local communities. He has served on the Christchurch City Council since 2019 and was elected Mayor in 2022 and again in 2025.
Prior to his time at the Council, Phil successfully led Maugers Contracting, a company building subdivisions and roads across the city. He has also served as a company director and Council-appointed trustee in several organisations.
Phil’s continued focus as mayor is making Christchurch the best place to live, work, invest, and play in New Zealand. He has long advocated for the city’s role as a national centre for events and sport – a vision that is now being realised with the opening of Parakiore and One New Zealand Stadium.
Phil is passionate about our city and looks forward to the remainder of his term, working in service of the Christchurch community.
He is married to Chrissy, and between them they have five children and eight grandchildren. Outside of work, Phil enjoys spending time with his family and pursuing his passion for vintage cars and motorsport.
