Councillor and Community Board candidates for Waimairi Ward in the 2022 local elections.

Waimairi Ward - Councillor (1 vacancy)

Kevin LIST

Kevin LIST

My principal place of residence is in the Waimairi Ward area. I am also standing for Waimairi Ward of the Waimāero Fendalton-Waimairi-Harewood Community Board.

If you are concerned by fiscal responsibility then you have a choice this election.
Economically this city needs to balance its budget and show respect to ratepayers. Voting to blow the stadium budget by $150 million dollars is not showing respect to ratepayers.
Waimairi's share will be around $10 million dollars.
I love sport, particularly playing cricket at Burnside Park, but we need to make decisions that prioritise infrastructure within budget. Not saddle fixed income elderly ratepayers with debt.
I grew up in Christchurch, went to St Bede's, UC and Broadcasting School. Now I'm completing a Teaching diploma after working at Parliament as an advisor. My time as a Parliamentary advisor has helped me understand budgetary processes and local government.
I'm requesting your support to be Waimairi's voice of common sense. If you weren't heard during the Stadium debate this election is your opportunity to be heard.

Sam MACDONALD

My principal place of residence is in the Waimairi Ward area.

Thank you for backing me as your City Councillor for the past three years. I have enjoyed the challenge of working for you on local projects and city-wide issues. As a Chartered Accountant I have worked everyday to ensure your views are competently and professionally represented.
Our city is at a pivotal stage and with a changing of the Mayoralty I believe we have an opportunity to be more effective, more pragmatic and more financially disciplined as a Council. With your support I'm confident we can reign in wasteful spending, drive more value for money for your rates and provide solutions that work for you. I oppose Government taking over Three Waters.
I am asking for your vote and continued support. My ongoing commitment to you is to be accessible, professional and pragmatic.
As always, please don't hesitate to contact me 0273339215 or sam@sammacdonald.nz
Re-elect Sam MacDonald to your Council

Currently, Christchurch needs many science-based decisions for its future including, water chlorination, air pollution, and reducing our carbon footprint.
City's growth depends on having less bureaucracy, more acceptance and understanding of the younger generation and migrants. Any rate hike is a burden to our community.
As a scientist with MBA degree and PhD degree in Chemistry and having worked for both public and private organisations in leadership roles, I am confident that I can be a knowledgeable voice at the council to enhance the community's wellbeing by the careful use of taxpayer's money. Previously, I have chaired CITAC, an international chemistry organisation and served on a number of committees including the International Accreditation New Zealand Advisory board.
Having lived in the Waimairi Ward since 2005, I am aware of the challenges to the community, and I believe your vote will make a change. Contact me on 02102344325

My principal place of residence is in the Waimairi Ward of the Waimāero Fendalton-Waimairi-Harewood Community Board area.

I am standing for the Community Board because I want to be a voice for residents. Avonhead has been my home for more than 20 years; I live here with my husband and three children. The area is changing, so ensuring good communication and transparency between the Council and community will be paramount. I am keenly aware of local issues, being an active member of the Avonhead Community Group and Friends of Avonhead Cemetery. A teaching professional by background, I am also a trustee of a local school and volunteer with several community groups. I am accessible, hard-working and a good listener. Having lived and worked in Asia for ten years, I have a strong rapport with people from different cultures and backgrounds. As someone who has been active in the community all these years, and enjoy being involved, I am confident that I will effectively represent the community's interests.
