Children of all ages can enjoy a free ride on the Peace Train around South Hagley Park.

Ride Christchurch’s newest free attraction – the Peace Train.

Running every second Sunday from September 2022 to April 2023, between 10am and 4pm, weather permitting.

The Peace Train leaves from the Hagley Oval car park – located in South Hagley Park at 63 Riccarton Avenue.

It will run fortnightly from Sunday 4 September 2022 until the end of April 2023. The train can’t operate in wet weather so event days will be cancelled if it’s raining. Keep an eye on the Council Facebook page(external link) for cancellations.

The train is a Wattman mini express ACS train, made in Canada and includes a wheelchair-accessible carriage.

Each trip takes approximately 15 minutes. The last ride of the day will leave at 3.45pm.

The train runs from 10am to 4pm, weather permitting, on the following dates:

  • Sunday 2 October
  • Sunday 16 October
  • Sunday 6 November
  • Sunday 20 November
  • Sunday 4 December
  • Sunday 18 December

Bus routes 3, 5, 80 and 86 all stop at bus stop number 17230 on Riccarton Avenue. Metroinfo(external link) has up-to-date bus information.

There is limited 120-minute on-street parking along Riccarton Ave.
