Sandy Bay to Jetty Road

A short track that follows the coastline between Sandy Bay and Jetty Road in Governors Bay. This track forms part of the Head to Head Walkway.

Due to safety concerns, a bridge on the coastal walkway between Sandy Beach and Governors Bay is being removed.

While we’re investigating replacement options, a low-tide bypass route has been created along the foreshore. Please note this is impassable for 1 to 2 hours on either side of high tide.

Check the track status page for up-to-date information.

Description

This undulating single track is a little rough underfoot – upgrades are in progress, check back regularly for updates.

It follows the water edge through the coastal bush before climbing some stairs to reach Jetty Road where there is a gate and small pull-off area to safely wait for traffic to pass.

Walk down Jetty Road for approximately 100 metres to pick up the start of the Governors Bay Foreshore Track.

Due to safety concerns, a bridge on the coastal walkway between Sandy Beach and Governors Bay is being removed. While we’re investigating replacement options, a low-tide bypass route has been created along the foreshore. Please note this is impassable for 1 to 2 hours on either side of high tide.

Heading south during high tide, depart from the coastal track at Sandy Beach Road and walk along the Main Road footpath before descending back to the Governors Bay jetty area (approximately 1km) before rejoining the coastal route. Heading north during high tide, head away from the coast at Jetty Road.

Sandy Bay has a safe swimming beach.
