When you need a resource consent
A resource consent is a formal approval needed when a building or activity does not meet the rules in the District Plan, or the plan states that resource consent is required for a particular activity.
Notified or non-notified
There are three ways in which resource consent applications can be processed – publicly notified, limited notified or non-notified.
Written approval from affected persons
Sometimes written approval from affected neighbours and other parties is needed for an application to be processed on a non-notified basis.
Exemption for permitted boundary activities
An exemption process for proposals only infringing District Plan boundary rules, with written approval from the neighbouring owners.
