Canterbury Multi-Use Arena - geotechnical works

What

We are about to begin geotechnical and environmental investigation works within the Canterbury Multi-Use Arena (CMUA) site.

Why

We are undertaking these works to inform and support the design of the CMUA.

Where

Works will be happening across the CMUA site that's bounded by Hereford Street, Barbadoes Street, Tuam Street and Madras Street.

When

Work will start on 16 April 2021 and is expected to be completed by late May 2021 (weather and on-site condition dependent). Work will generally be undertaken between Monday to Friday, 7am to 6pm.

Details

  • The proposed works will generally cover the extent of the site and investigations works will comprise:
    • Geotechnical boreholes
    • Monitoring wells
    • Cone penetration tests (CPT)
    • Test pitting 
    • Geophysical testing
  • Contractors will enter and exit the site from 248-250 Hereford Street.
  • Monitoring of installed equipment will require a site presence throughout the evening and night for a short duration of the works programme.
  • Public car parks within the site boundary will be temporarily closed for short periods of time while investigation work takes place. Information will be displayed at each of the car parks to notify specific closures.
