Whiteleigh Avenue / Wise Street - Lincoln Road north side bus lanes

What

We will be installing a new stormwater pipe, footpath, kerb and channel and connecting new water mains as part of the Lincoln Road Bus Lanes and Watermain Upgrade Project.

Why

We’re doing this work alongside the installation of new peak-time bus lanes and safety improvements along Lincoln Road.

Where

Lincoln Road between numbers 239 and 297, Addington.

When

4 July 2022 to 9 September 2022. Monday to Friday, 7am to 6pm (weather/site condition dependent).

Details

  • The contractor will start work on the north side of Lincoln Road to begin installing a new stormwater pipe, kerb and channel and new footpaths.
  • There will be some building work on the Sullivans canopy (291 Lincoln Road) and the traffic signals in this area will be repositioned.
  • The intersections of Clarence Street South and Wise Street will be upgraded.
  • Updates will be provided for any night works being planned.

Impacts on traffic 

  • Temporary traffic management will be in place along the work area with Lincoln Road open to two-way traffic during this work.
  • Where one-way systems and road closures will be in place, detour signage will be in installed to direct road users.  We will provide updates before any closures take place.
  • Temporary bus stops will be installed where existing stops may be affected. Signage will indicate where the bus stop has moved to. Please allow extra time. 
  • Cyclists will be merged with the traffic lanes. Please drive with care.  
  • Speed will be reduced to 30km/h through the work area. 
  • Pedestrian access to footpaths will be maintained at all times with detours in place from time to time. Please follow signage.

Impacts of work 

  • There will be increased noise, dust, and vibration from the use of machinery for activities such as saw cutting, hydro excavation and plate compaction. 
  • If the work requires a water shut-down a further notice will be provided with dates and times. Please note that all planned shut-downs will only be carried out at night. 
  • On-street parking will be affected on both sides of Lincoln Road where we are working.  
  • We will keep work areas small where possible and road cones will indicate where parking will not be available.  
  • Property access will be maintained where possible. We will work with businesses and residents during the work. Please let us know if you have any specific property access needs e.g. medical visits, home help, large vehicle deliveries or planned works.
