New Brighton Road Pump Station - upgrade

Update

What

We are upgrading the New Brighton Road stormwater pump station, including replacing the roof and upgrading parts.

Why

The upgrade will ensure the pump station continues to work effectively to stop water levels becoming too high in Horseshoe Lake and spilling onto surrounding roads and property.

Where

205 New Brighton Road.

When

Work started on 23 March 2021 and is expected to be completed by late June 2022 (weather dependent). Work will be undertaken between Monday to Friday, 7.30am to 6pm. If work is required on a Saturday to ensure we meet the completion date, it will be between 7.30am to 4pm.

Contact

The contractor is Seipp Construction. Phone Barry Hofmeyr on 021 710 916.

Details

  • There are no road or footpath closures expected.
  • This work is unlikely to cause any major impacts to residents, with most work happening inside the pump station.
  • The most significant impact will be an increase in vehicle movements into the site, such as delivery vehicles and construction equipment.
  • Signage about the upgrade will be placed on New Brighton Road, near the entrance to the pump station.
  • Water levels in Horseshoe Lake will be higher than usual during some parts of the upgrade.
