Scarborough Fare – concrete renewals

What

We are renewing a section of damaged concrete pathways around the Scarborough Café and seawall.

Why

To remove and renew sections of damaged concrete, these are creating trip hazards to the public walkways around the back of Scarborough sea wall and around the Café. Adjusting levels of the renewed concrete surfaces, to remove tripping hazards and help alleviate standing water for improved pedestrian safety and access in this area.

When

Mid-August 2022 to late August 2022. Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm (weather/site condition dependent).

Details 

  • Sections of the pathway will closed to the public during the construction activities.
  • Works in the area will be staged, with public access to the Café remaining open at all times during the construction period.
  • Temporary pedestrian detours will be in place throughout the duration of this project to help guide the public around the worksite and to help direct customers to the Café entrance.
  • The site will be fully fenced to create a safe working space for the contractor and to act as a separation barrier to the public.
  • Spotters will be on site to safely assist pedestrians around the construction zone during this time.
  • There will be machinery operating on this site, with construction equipment and vehicle movements taking place during the day.
  • There will be an increase in noise and activity around the Café during this construction process.
  • Construction equipment will access the site from Heberden Ave.
