As the SCIRT rebuild comes to an end Christchurch City Council will continue repairing roads and underground pipes.
The Stronger Christchurch Infrastructure Rebuild Team (SCIRT(external link)) was formed in 2011 following the Christchurch earthquakes. SCIRT was responsible for rebuilding the city’s earthquake damaged roads, fresh water supply, wastewater and stormwater networks. SCIRT has now completed its earthquake repair programme.
The Council has been working closely with SCIRT over the last few years to manage the handover of the construction programme. We've budgeted over $600 million over the next five years to repair our services, and have several major projects underway across Christchurch on top of this budget.
