Lichfield Street carpark rebuild

Concept plans for the new central city parking building

The parking building will provide 804 parking spaces and 953 square metres of retail space.

It will have a number of features including:

  • connections to Ballantynes and the Guthrey Centre
  • electronic signage on the availability of parks – green and red lights will show users which parks are available
  • electric charging for motor vehicles and bicycles
  • an automated security system
  • a larger retail area activating Plymouth Lane and Lichfield Street

The Lichfield Street parking building is a key part of the Christchurch Central Parking Plan [PDF, 5.4 MB] [PDF 5.7MB], which lays out the parking strategy for the city centre.

A consortium led by Clearwater Construction and including DHC Consulting, DH Steel Construction and MAP Architects won the contract.
