The library, cafe and meeting rooms are to be repaired.

The library at 213 Marine Parade, New Brighton, is currently open.

New Brighton Library sustained moderate damage in the earthquakes, and will be closed for an estimated six months from spring 2016 while repairs take place. Christchurch City Libraries is investigating the possibility of offering temporary library services in the area during the repair.

The Salt on the Pier café will remain open throughout the majority of the work.

The most significant repair work includes repairs to concrete columns and floors, replacing the east-facing windows on the first floor and strengthening of the wall/roof connections, as well as external painting, carpet replacement, deck repairs in the restaurant and some cosmetic internal wall repair/painting.

New Brighton Pier is also being repaired from spring 2016, and with the Library sitting adjacent, the Council is scheduling both repair jobs to coincide as much as possible to keep disruption to a minimum.
