The Christchurch City Council is meeting on Thursday 27 September at 9.30am. The main items on the agenda for the public part of the meeting are:

  • A report from the Regulatory Performance Committee which recommends the Council retain the existing Gambling and TAB Venue Policy for a further three years.
  • A report from the Regulatory Performance Committee recommending the Council begin public consultation on the draft Earthquake-prone buildings – Priority Thoroughfares and Routes using a special consultative procedure.
  • A report from the Finance and Performance Committee recommending the Council requests Christchurch City Holdings Limited to report to the Council on any current considerations of its financial strategy, including its capital release strategy.
  • The final Statements of Intent from ChristchurchNZ Holdings Limited, Central Plains Water Trust, and Christchurch City Holdings Limited.
  • A report from the Finance and Performance Committee recommending the Council receive the financial performance report for the year ended 30 June 2018 and approves operational and capital carry forwards. 
  • A report from the Infrastructure, Transport and Environment Committee recommending the Council approve the draft suburban parking policy for public consultation.
  • A report from the Infrastructure, Transport and Environment Committee which recommends the Council confirm the start of the Cathedral Square Public Realm Improvement Project. The project aims to deliver public realm improvements, especially to the south and south-east portion of Cathedral Square where there is significant private development under way.
  • A report which seeks further direction on progressing the Christchurch Kart Club’s relocation to McLeans Island as the Council’s capped $100,000 contribution towards consenting costs has been reached.
  • A report which recommends the Council approve a grant of $20,000 from the 2018/19 Metropolitan Discretionary Response Fund to Christchurch Children’s Christmas Parade Trust towards rent and insurance costs.
  • A report which recommends the Council meet the costs of removing the Angels Rest Bach at Port Levy. The privately-owned bach needs to be removed so planned improvements to the reserve can proceed.
  • A report which recommends the Council approve the draft Heritage Strategy for public consultation.
  • A report outlining the options for addressing the confusion in the District Plan about what building activity can occur in flood-prone coastal areas.
  • A report which recommends the Council consider approving the Christchurch Memorial Returned and Services’ Association’s request to have the Citizens War Memorial relocated from its current site next to Christ Church Cathedral to an alternative site.
