On Thursday 24 August the Christchurch City Council will be meeting at 10am. On its agenda is:

  • A report from the Halswell-Hornby-Riccarton Community Board which recommends Council approve Denton Park as the preferred location for the new Hornby Library, Customer Services, and South West Leisure Centre. The Board also recommends Council approve a combined ‘co-located’ configuration for the facility.
  • A report from the Halswell-Hornby-Riccarton Community Board which recommends Council reinstate a school speed zone and parking restrictions on Amyes Road outside South Hornby School.
  • A report from the Halswell-Hornby-Riccarton Community Board which recommends Council approve the installation of traffic lights and intersection improvement works at the intersection of Augustine Drive and Halswell Road, in Halswell. 
  • A report from the Infrastructure, Transport and Environment Committee which recommends Council approve a staff proposal to revise the design and position for the Marshlands Road/Lower Styx Road/Hawkins Road intersection improvement and the widening of the Marshland Road Bridge. 
  • A report from the Infrastructure, Transport and Environment Committee which recommends a raft of changes to parking and stopping restrictions between Cambridge Terrace and Montreal Street. The report also recommends putting a pedestrian crossing on Hereford Street to allow safer access between the Christchurch City Council Civic Offices and the King Edwards Barracks development.
  •  A report from the Finance and Performance Committee which outlines the options for addressing the impact of road works on private businesses. The report notes that financial compensation for businesses affected by road works is not considered feasible. It recommends though that Council liaise with businesses to enable access to their properties for pedestrians and vehicles.
  •  A report from the Regulatory and Performance Committee which recommends Council do not investigate changing the Easter Sunday Trading Hours policy, and requests staff to keeping a watching brief for public expressions of interest in a policy change.
  • A report from the Social and Community Development Committee which recommends the Council approve Rauora Park as the name for the East Frame reserve between Armagh and Lichfield streets. 
  • A report from the Social and Community Development Committee which recommends the Committee’s terms of reference are amended and it is renamed the Social, Community Development and Housing Committee.
  • A report from the Social and Community Development Committee in which Council staff recommend the Council give a heritage incentive grant of up to $204,892 to the owners of the former St Luke’s Vicarage in Kilmore St.
  • A report which recommends the Council endorse a funding agreement with the Crown that would see the Council and the Crown both contribute $3.07 million for a shared equity home ownership programme.
  • A report from the Finance and Performance Committee approving a draft Memorandum of Understanding between Christchurch City Council, ChristchurchNZ and Christchurch City Holdings.
  • A report from the Finance and Performance Committee outlining the Council’s financial performance for the past quarter.
  • A report from the Finance and Performance Committee noting that the final Statements of Intent 2017/2018 have been received from Christchurch City Holdings Ltd and its subsidiaries, and Council-owned organisations and charitable trusts.
  • A report from the Finance and Performance Committee outlining Development Christchurch Limited’s Progress Report for June and July 2017.
  • A report which recommends a mechanism for the allocation of Strengthening Communities Grant funding to Community Boards and for metropolitan groups.
