Join fellow rugby fans to watch the All Blacks (hopefully) beat the Lions or enjoy some mud-slinging antics this weekend.

Christchurch Fanzone

Christchurch’s Fanzone is roaring back into life this weekend for the eagerly anticipated test match between the All Blacks and the British and Irish Lions. The Fanzone, which is located in Poplar St between Lichfield and Tuam streets, will be open from 5pm on Saturday and will have two big screens. There will be face-painting and other activities for the young and young-at-heart. No alcohol is permitted within the Fanzone but the surrounding hospitality outlets will be open for those wanting to have a drink before or after the game.

Festival of Lights

Lyttelton’s night sky will light up with fireworks tonight as the port town plays host to its annual Festival of Lights Street Party.

The Street Party kicks off at 6pm and will include a parade, food stalls, live music from The Eastern, Mundi and The Settlers, and the much loved Lyttelton Port of Christchurch Fireworks display at 8pm.

The Street Party always attracts a huge crowd so if you are planning on heading over to Lyttelton on Friday night check out the Transport for Christchurch website.

Winter Encraftment Market

Head to the Lincoln Event Centre on Sunday to get your fix of handmade goodies at the Winter Encraftment market. Come and wander through more than 70 stalls featuring New Zealand’s finest crafters and designers, there’s every excuse to treat yourself or find wonderful gifts for those you love. Stalls feature products ranging from clothing and accessories, to jewellery, housewares, stationery, kidsware, toys, art prints and more. 
Open 10am til 3pm.

Mud, Sweat and Tears

The Motukarara Raceway will be heaving with muddied bodies this Sunday for the annual Mud, Sweat and Tears event. This is a unique sports event that will challenge you in so many ways. Winter can be dull, dark and borning but not anymore! Wrap up warm and get ready to get messy!

Mozart and More!

Resonance Ensemble proudly presents its 2017 winter concert – featuring Mozart and much more. Conducting the concert is accomplished conductor, composer, performer and teacher Patrick Shepherd, with Cornelia Didenco as leader. Come and join the chamber orchestra for a great afternoon of music.

Performance begins at 3.30pm at The Piano, Centre for Music and the Arts. Adults $20, concessions $15.
