Christchurch’s Fanzone is roaring back into life this weekend for the eagerly anticipated test match between the All Blacks and the British and Irish Lions.

The Fanzone was debuted on June 10 for the Crusaders’ match against the touring team and is being resurrected for Saturday night’s big clash.

Join the fun at the Christchurch Fanzone and watch the All Blacks take on the British and Irish Lions.

“The Fanzone was buzzing during the Crusaders match and we’re hoping that families will again take advantage of the set-up to watch the game on the big screens and enjoy the occasion with other mad-keen rugby fans,’’ says Major Events Manager Richard Attwood.

“It’s likely to be a cold night but wrap the kids up warm, bring some blankets and get behind the ABs. It will be at least another 12 years before the Lions are here again so make the most of the occasion – it will be something the kids will remember for a long, long time.’’

The Fanzone, which is located in Poplar St between Lichfield and Tuam streets, will be open from 5pm on Saturday and will have two big screens. There will be face-painting and other activities for the young and young-at-heart.

No alcohol is permitted within the Fanzone but the surrounding hospitality outlets will be open for those wanting to have a drink before or after the game.
