The Council will give a heritage incentive grant of up to $362,675 to the owner of eight units in the old Duncan’s Building to help pay for the cost of conserving and maintaining the High St building’s historic façade.

The Council is going to help pay for the repair and restoration of the Duncan's Building facade.

The Duncan’s Building dates back to 1905 and occupies the southwestern side of High St between St Asaph St and Tuam St.

Temporary alcohol ban approved

A temporary alcohol ban will be imposed on the streets around Riccarton Racecourse from 7am to midnight on New Zealand Cup Day – November 18. It will be the third year a temporary alcohol ban has been applied to the area around the racecourse in an attempt to reduce the problems caused by intoxicated race-goers.

Dividend payment approved

Tuam Ltd will pay the Council a cash dividend of $814,374. Tuam Ltd is 100 per cent owned by the Council and prior to the earthquakes owned the former Council offices in Tuam St and a number of smaller buildings on the opposite side of Tuam St. Those buildings have since been sold to the Crown. The $814,374 dividend represents 99 per cent of Tuam Ltd’s asset value.
