"Christchurch City Council has withdrawn the approval for the Mitre 10 MEGA - A Run to Remember to proceed this Sunday due to the fires in the Port Hills.

"We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported this event over the past five years, and we have a refund process for those of you have already registered in 2017.

"This article contains information on securing your refund. Alternatively, entrants have the option of transferring their entry fee as a donation to New Zealand Red Cross.

"Thank you to Mitre 10 MEGA and all of our sponsors for your generosity, which makes this very special event possible each year. We look forward to gathering as a community in Victoria Park again in 2018."
