Christchurch Heritage Festival is on its way again from 12 to 28 October (Labour Day), bringing together a wide range of community events and activities.

The Christchurch Heritage Festival allows us to share the stories of the past that link us to this place. He tātai muka, he tātai tangata – weave together the strands, weave together the people.

Active Heritage - Sports, Recreation and Leisure

This year’s theme looks to explore our heritage in terms of sport, recreation and leisure. Let’s discover how these activities have shaped our diverse communities here in Ōtautahi-Christchurch, Te Pātaka o Rākaihautū-Banks Peninsula and the wider Canterbury region.

Whilst it is encouraged, it is not compulsory to relate your heritage event to the theme.

Apply to host an event

If you have a great idea for an event at this year’s Heritage Festival, for example it might be a heritage walk, talk, performance or tour, visit the webpage. Council staff are happy to talk about your event ideas before you apply, as well as how the application process works. To get in touch please email heritage@ccc.govt.nz

Applications are open online until 10 June 2024.

Venue: Te Kōhanga o Ngā Puna Wai Lounge and Boardroom, north of Hockey field 1 (see map) Augustine Drive, Halswell.

An open session is being held to cover a few topics relating to Ngā Puna Wai, and you're more than welcome to come along. There'll be discussions around the Wigram Road entrance, the new carpark, and giving neighbours a chance to ask questions and connect with the community of hub users.

If you have a particular issue you want to discuss, there'll be time in the second half of the session to talk with staff.
