Councillor for Spreydon Ward.
Phil comes from Waikiwi near Invercargill where he grew up on a small farm. He has an MA (Hons) in Social Work and for several years worked in Mental Health later being Professional Leader of Social Work for Older Person’s Health, Canterbury District Health Board.
He also held the position of Chair of the Spreydon-Heathcote Community Board for four terms and is a second term Christchurch City Councillor. Phil is Chair of the Social and Community Development Committee and a member of the Strategic Capability Committee and the Infrastructure, Transport and Environment Committee (and Past Chair). He enjoys representing the communities of the Spreydon Ward.
In his own time he is fond of walking on the Port Hills, tramping anywhere in the South Island and recreational cycling – he’s a passionate cycling advocate!
He’s married to Pam and they have five adult children and three grandchildren.
