A society grows strong when old men and women plant trees they will never sit under
My decision to get involved in local body politics was motivated by a belief in the importance of leaving a positive legacy. I want my children and grandchildren to live in a community that is socially and environmentally healthy, in which residents feel a sense of connection and belonging.
I am committed to formulating, facilitating and communicating a vision for a strong community that embraces diversity in age, gender and ethnicity that values experience, diverse views and skills. As Councillor, I endeavour to engage, listen, and confidently represent the wishes and needs of the residents of Halswell and the city.
As this is my first foray into local body politics, I have a lot to learn. However, I am fortunate to be a part of the positive and supportive team that are the Council Staff and my fellow Councillors.
The committee structure and terms of reference have just been finalised and I will be on:
As well as these I will be a member of the International and Multicultural Strategy sub-committee, chairing the Safer Christchurch Committee, on the Museum Trust Board, and representing the Council on the Selwyn –Waihora Zone Committee.
In my spare time(!). I love spending time with my family (especially my grandchildren) and friends; being active (I've run a few half-marathons) reading, movie watching; and travelling.
I look forward to meeting you. Please feel free to contact me.
