Lianne DALZIELLianne DALZIEL

Best for Christchurch

My principal place of residence is in the Christchurch City Council area.
Three years ago I set out to unite the council, earn the confidence of our community and strategic partners and to get our city back on its feet.
It hasn't been easy, but our finances are now in order, our insurance is settled and our communities' facilities are being restored.
Every step of the way, I've been guided by what I believe is Best for Christchurch.
In the next three years so much more progress will be made. We are on the cusp of something truly exciting. New Zealand's oldest city is becoming New Zealand's newest city.
Three years ago, CERA was in charge. Now it's time for local leadership and for our communities to have a real say in the regeneration opportunities that lie ahead. These things don't just happen by chance.
With my leadership, a united council focused on what's Best for Christchurch, will make it happen. http://www.lianne.co.nz/(external link)

Keep Our Assets Canterbury

My principal place of residence is in the Christchurch City Council area.
I am standing as a KOA (Keep our Assets Canterbury) candidate for mayor because we want to win the mayoralty with good policies for Christchurch people.
We want a people-centred city rather than a corporate-centred city.
We also want to see a return to local democracy through open and honest negotiations with central government.
Our policies include: Stopping asset sales; Free and frequent public transport; The living wage ($19.80) as the minimum for all council work; Building 1000 additional council homes for rent and rent-to-buy over 3 years; Ending the corporate stranglehold on the CBD rebuild with stiff rate increases on undeveloped land; Fighting to make all Canterbury rivers swimmable.
These bold policies will improve the lives of everyone living in Canterbury and will save the council money. You can read more about these polices at www.mintoformayor.org.nz

Janis HALEYJanis HALEY

My principal place of residence is in the Akaroa subdivision of the Banks Peninsula Community Board area.
As I draw to a close on my last three years as a member of the Akaroa Wairewa Community Board, I have now decided to make myself available again, to stand for the coming term for the Banks Peninsula Community Board.
I have found the role to be very challenging, very frustrating, very rewarding, always something new, and as members we have great support and wonderful co-members to work with. There is unfinished business and various projects that I would like to see fulfilled or completed before I retire from the board. Also with this term there will be a transitional period as the new Community Board for our area takes on a new demographic structure, and a larger combined area with Lyttelton and Mount Herbert.
As a resident in Akaroa, I again will strive to work for our communities, for their betterment on Banks Peninsula.

Keith MOLLOYKeith MOLLOY

My principal place of residence is in the Akaroa subdivision of the Banks Peninsula Community Board area.
I am a long-term resident of Akaroa town. I am standing as a candidate for the Akaroa Community Subdivision of the Community Board because I want to provide a strong voice for our community.
I am single/widowed with a very strong sense of family. I recently retired after 40 plus years in the aviation industry, flying aircraft including many management roles.
Involvement in our community - Member of Lions and a current Volunteer Fire Fighter with the Akaroa Volunteer Fire Brigade. I have good analytical and communication skills. A focus for me on the community board would be to see improvements on the peninsula going forward for the benefit of our people, greater whanau and community. A vote for me is a vote for a good leader and community minded person who only seeks to implement solutions, problems are easily recognised.

Pam RICHARDSONPam RICHARDSON

My principal place of residence is in the Akaroa subdivision of the Banks Peninsula Community Board area.
I am keen to take up the challenge as one of the new Banks Peninsula Community Board members and I am looking for your support.
One of the major challenges will be the new electoral boundary. The Board will have a larger area and a much wider range of issues. They will be representing all of Banks Peninsula and travelling longer distances to meetings seminars etc. To be an effective Community Board member requires time and energy to gain a clear understanding of what the issues are. I have a record of a long time involvement with Banks Peninsula activities committees and organisations. I am committed to making the new Board work and to keep in close contact with all of our communities. We need to ensure that we have 'a voice' strong sustainable communities and we must celebrate and enjoy our unique environment - our special place Banks Peninsula.

My principal place of residence is in the Burwood Ward area.
Kia ora Kotou, Ko Cruize Taku ingoa, no Otautahi turangawaiwai.
As a Christian, and Maori my passion and focus is to develop our eastern communities. This can only be done with the support of our local people. Our eastern communities have so much to offer to the wider Canterbury. It is time for the east to rise, stand and be heard.
In our back yard, we have the heart, the intelligence and the resilience to build the community that the eastern suburbs want and need.
I have a strong background in community development projects in a faith based youth orientated setting. I stand for Progression and development with our growing Community, in the community, for the Community.
Nou te rourou naku te rourou ka ora ai te Iwi.

Glenn LIVINGSTONEGlenn LIVINGSTONE

The People's Choice - Labour

My principal place of residence is in the Burwood Ward area.
A second term Councillor, I bring my experience as a Presbyterian Minister to understanding communities.
Rebuilding our ward, I have focused on our community facilities, such as the QE2 aquatic complex, Aranui Community Centre and Wainoni Park upgrade. I have initiated SCIRT and residents meetings to address our numerous roading issues. The residential red zone holds huge opportunity and I'm passionate about embracing collaborative processes to determine its future.
Addressing homelessness/emergency housing, I have led the renovation of the old city mission, social housing repairs and played an integral role developing the Council's Housing Policy. I've represented people struggling with insurers and supported Council funding for insurance advocacy.
A Coast-to-Coast competitor, I have a vision that our ward becomes a draw-card for sporting, recreational and environmental activities.
I offer continuity and experience and I have the skills to continue representing you.

Tim BAKERTim BAKER

The People's Choice

My principal place of residence is in the Burwood Ward of the Coastal-Burwood Community Board area.
I have been an elected member of the Community Board for 2 terms. During this time a huge amount has been accomplished including the opening of a new library and Community Facility (Hall). I have attended over 100 meetings each year to ensure the community has been listened to.
I have not promised unrealistic projects like the Water Park. I have realistic expectations of the Council, Government and community.
Over the next 3 years I intend to be an advocate to ensure that the best use of the Red Zone is realised, the roads are repaired on time, stop banks are renewed to prevent flooding, our parks are kept nice, and a lot more than 150 words limits me to!
Your vote for The People's Choice team will ensure our ward and community keep thriving.

The People's Choice

My principal place of residence is not in the Burwood Ward of the Coastal-Burwood Community Board area.
I currently work in tertiary education as the Pasifika Liaison officer for Ara Institute of Canterbury (formerly CPIT Aoraki). I am a Justice of the Peace, a member of the Youth Advisory Group for the Wayne Francis Charitable Trust, and also sit on the Pasifika Advisory Group for Ara Institute of Canterbury.
After the earthquake I started a group called No Limits which used performing arts as a vehicle for the voice of young people in Christchurch to be heard, and to be connected with the leaders and decision makers of this city. I believed there was a need to engage people in a way that would cross socioeconomic status, generations, and culture, and that would build strong, accessible bridges within the community. That is my heart.
I am seeking to be elected not just to be a voice for Pasifika and Māori, but for the advancement of all people.

I am committed to the east, politics-free and I'm seeking a fourth term. Central government initiated two positive projects supporting eastern recovery. Two new high schools at QEII. Burwood Hospital's extensions.
However Council's eastern initiatives have done little in returning our quality of life.
I want to see: Quality roads rebuilt to reconnect business and community. Budget commitment for an additional deep water pool at QEII to provide for our adults fitness and wellbeing. New stop bank protection. New Brighton's Legacy Project.
By working with community I have successfully advocated for - retaining QEII land sale proceeds for further onsite recreational development, upgrading the downsized aquatic replacement proposal to include a two metre depth 25 metre pool, lengthened learn-to-swim pool and a therapeutically useful spa.
I love our eastern lifestyle and oppose our parks and facilities being downsized or cashed-in without transparent community-wide consultations.

I am standing because I believe I can give something more back to our community and city which has given much to me over the last 36 years as a resident of St Martins and Beckenham.
Energetic. Effective. Involved.
Christchurch South Community Patrol secretary
Central Police Station volunteer
Cancer Society volunteer driver
Beckenham Neighbourhood member
Previously TVNZ and CTV producer and director in Christchurch for 36 years.
In 2013, 6848 of you voted for me -just 182 votes shy of being elected. I hope all of you will do the same again with enough others to allow me to bring a fresh approach to our Boards' deliberations and our communities' future. The Board over the years has addressed many issues generally, but not always effectively, so there is always room for improvement, and I can make that difference on your behalf.
A fresh voice. A fresh face. A fresh choice.

Helene MAUTNERHelene MAUTNER

The People’s Choice - Labour

My principal place of residence is in the Cashmere Ward of the Spreydon-Cashmere Community Board area.
I am a current Spreydon/Heathcote Community Board member, chair of the Opawaho-Heathcote River Network, and past-president of National Council of Women (Christchurch Branch). I have a PhD in Speech Therapy, and have worked as computer programmer, business analyst, and waste minimisation consultant.
I have lived in the local community for 30 years and our children attended Cashmere schools. A practical environmentalist, I've organised successful river clean-ups and waste reduction programmes in schools, hospitals and factories. I'm keen to continue using my skills and energy on the Board to help in the huge post-quake task.
I am opposed to selling Council assets like the port, airport, or electricity network. I want to see good design and business activity in rebuilt shopping centres, realistic solutions to congestion and housing shortages, along with a healthy environment for all, with special concern for children, elderly and people with disabilities.

I'm proud to call Cashmere home, it's a unique and very special environment.
As an experienced Project Manager, Licensed Builder and volunteer Youth Mentor I have a depth of real life skills and knowledge that enable me to advocate strongly and effectively for this community.
I work collaboratively and transparently and will bring more opportunities for residents to connect and thrive; further ensuring the services we all rely on don't get neglected and remain readily available and accessible.
I'm leading a campaign to keep medical services at Princess Margaret Hospital, to ensure all residents within our Southern suburbs can access lower cost healthcare.
As an active member of Otakaro Orchard's Board I support locally grown produce and greater education on food quality. I know great things can be delivered by 'bottom up' community initiatives when rightly empowered.
I'm approachable and will bring new energy, balance and focus into this role.

Our Communities represent the heart of our city, this heart has been beating for many years from our past, our present and into the future as we continue to rebuild our city. As your community board representative I will continue working to best represent the views and needs of our community. My past record of community work stands out. Member of Phillipstown School board that took the fight to Education Ministry to keep the school open, have successfully campaigned to stop unwanted liquor stores opening in our community. Worked with council officials and shut down an illegally operating brothel in the community. Proudly campaigned to keep our current flag but my work is still not complete. I have a lot to offer our community, I have the time, passion and energy to roll up my sleeves, get down and work hard for our community, I just need your vote.

As a wheelchair user I appreciate barriers faced by people with mobility challenges whether through physical impairment or age instability. Our city, our community, has an obligation to assure safe, accessible, healthy, affordable housing that continues to meet our needs as we age.
Now is the time to design for a truly internationally recognised accessible city, from home to places of business, employment, leisure and care; through paving and public transport; attracting commercial benefits from disabled sporting, business and tourism.
I support open, inclusive decision making. I am a strong believer in environmental issues and sustainability, and want clean water, free from nutrient loading and commercialisation. I am treasurer on the board of a community housing organisation and volunteer for another.
I challenge boundaries: I was the first adaptive rower to be selected in the NZ rowing squad in 2009, and I'm a keen off-road hand-cycler.

24 years ago I left South Brighton for Waikuku Beach and sadly watched the steady decline, underinvestment, over promises, under delivery in this stunning environment. Those living in the coast do it for a reason, lifestyle, its values, the environment and a sense of community. The earthquakes should have accelerated the work programme for this area but I believe you've been patronised with grandiose plans without looking after the basic maintenance requirements of roads, recreation faculties and drainage. You deserve stronger representation; passion is not enough. It's time to stop the rhetoric and time for action. I am strong, forthright and have experience in coastal communities as a previous Waimakariri Deputy Mayor and regional councillor. If elected I will return to this piece of paradise and will vigorously demand that from Southshore to Brooklands you are treated with a much better level of service and the community's views are respected

I have advocated for and supported fellow citizens as an insurance expert over the past six years. I want to represent my community now because we are in a period of change with challenges that demand we find, in a transparent way, solutions that give all a fair go.
There is no room for arrogance, ignorance or talk down behaviour. We need honest, realistic solutions to real problems. We love the area that is the Coastal Ward because of its plentiful and easy access to natural habitat and landscapes: the beach, sea and forest. These need to be protected and have good safe access so we can enjoy our beautiful environment.
We can work together to improve our lives and help our community because I want, like you, a life that isn't broken.

Our Community My Priority

My principal place of residence is in the Halswell Ward of the Halswell-Hornby-Riccarton Community Board area.
After being a quiet voice behind recent community initiatives I have been nominated to represent your interests in a more public way. A vote for me gives you a pro-active, independent Community Board member, speaking out for continued improvements within our community. I am familiar with issues affecting the Halswell, Aidanfield, Awatea, Kennedy's Bush, Westmorland, Wigram and rural areas, having lived here for 19 years. Married with adult children who have attended local schools, I am a member of the Halswell Residents Association and the Halswell River Rating District Liaison Committee. Having played, coached and refereed sport locally I recognise the importance of our residents belonging to a community that embraces and facilitates their involvement. I will press for fair and equitable rates and my knowledge of growth, planning and rating policies for urban and rural areas will provide for better representation across all generations. Our community is my priority.

My principal place of residence is in the Halswell Ward of the Halswell-Hornby-Riccarton Community Board area.
I have lived in Halswell for 30 years and love it! My career began at IRD, and I now work in the financial industry. I obtained two diplomas while raising my son: accounting and human resources management. I enjoy employment law and when time permits I advocate successfully for those who have been wrongfully dismissed. Being a current elected member, I would like to continue to support the idea of a potential cafe at the Stone House at Halswell Quarry. It has been an idea of many and deserves to come to fruition.
I am involved with the Halswell Residents Association, Birthright Christchurch, and Kaitiaki group (guardianship/community welfare groups). I enjoy playing bridge, love aviation, and have learned to fly a Piper Cherokee, a fantastic experience.
If you want to be listened to and your voice heard it would be my privilege to continue to represent you.

Best Value for Christchurch

My principal place of residence is not in the Harewood Ward area.
I am very focussed on supporting the regeneration of Christchurch now and into the future, always questioning - What is best value for Christchurch?
We need councillors who have knowledge and skills to lead through Christchurch's challenges. I can provide these. I am an engineer with more than 40 years' experience here and overseas in design and management of building and construction, financial control and community engagement.
Following the September 2011 earthquake I led the rebuild of land, pipes and roads for the city. I have been the Value Manager in SCIRT since it began in May 2011.
I bring understanding of how to get building and construction done, fiscal responsibility to identify the right projects, completing in the right priority, staying connected with community needs.
I'm running for Harewood to make a positive contribution to the ward and the business of Council.
Vote Rod Cameron - Best Value for Christchurch.

I am standing in the ward of Harewood to passionately represent the community where I live and get results for the ratepayers of my neighbourhood, giving you experienced representation and accountability on local issues. We desperately need a set of traffic lights at the intersection of Harewood/Gardiners/Breens to make this dangerous intersection safe for all our community.
We need to clean up our waterways. A number of creeks, rivers and springs flow through our ward and we house the city's #1 well head which is currently compromised and needs attention. We need to rein in council spending and keep rate rises locked to the rate of inflation.
I live in Harewood, I'm married with three children, I run a small business, I've been on Community Board for nine years and now I wish to be the first Councillor for Harewood. Please feel free to contact me anytime Aaron 021822766

I have served three years as Councillor for the Hagley Ferrymead ward, which is arguably one of the most affected in the city. We have been busy with a lot of planning and decision-making around building resilience for the future and working closely with the affected communities on how we achieve that.
Throughout this term I have always been accessible even during times of heavy workload. This has enabled me to develop an intimate knowledge and understanding of all the local issues. I came into council knowing that this term would not be easy but I wanted to be a part of working with the community to develop a new future for our city. We have come a long way from when we took office three years ago. I believe consistency will be essential in the coming term if we are to continue on the solid path we have created.

Strong Communities for a Stronger Christchurch

My principal place of residence is in the Heathcote Ward area.
As Chair of the Hagley-Ferrymead Community Board for the last three years I've been active, accessible and approachable in the many communities we've represented. I've worked to enable greater community engagement in council processes and in the rebuild of our local facilities.
Amongst other projects I also chaired the Victoria Square Community Reference Group, as we oversaw CERA's consultation process, ensuring the city's desire for a restored Square was upheld. Residents need to have a greater say in the rest of the central city.
Christchurch needs strong communities to become a stronger, more resilient city. We need local facilities and businesses, safe and sustainable transport options and a healthy natural environment.
Our city needs councillors who live in and are connected to their wards, are experienced leaders, good listeners and believe in public service. I am one of those people and need your vote to do this work.

From labourer to machine operator to qualified commercial pilot. I'm a proud Cantabrian who has bled building this city labouring and bled wearing red and black on the sports field too. The next generation should look back with gratitude for the one before.
Our city needs a vision, so the next generation can easily build upon the foundations we set, instead of finding solutions for the problems we leave.
Christchurch roads are congested. Stresses on the current infrastructure and more importantly the people is evident. A balanced solution of implementing new technologies and bringing back modes of the past on existing infrastructure is required.
Commuter rail is a viable option to reduce congestion in the city.
I am 100% committed to resolving these issues.
I will be the voice for the people. Because I've walked the same path.

I have lived in the Hornby Ward for 26 years. We have a farming business where we grow and export produce. The family is very involved with sport and outdoor activities.
While Hornby has not received the same damage from the earthquakes as other parts of the city, there are flow on effects in terms of planning, population shift and use of resources. I am the Chairperson for the Yaldhurst Rural Residents. As such I have experience with the various council and legal forums. While those activities sound rather dry that is the framework that shapes the environment we live in and our quality of life.
We submitted on the resource consent by the Canterbury Aggregate Group. This application has the potential to contaminate Christchurch's groundwater and is relevant to everyone in the Christchurch area.
If elected I will advocate for sustainability, the environment and communication with the community.

Hi, Claire Exton here. I have lived in this area all my life and like most of you, very concerned about Traffic in and around Hornby, and it is getting much worse! We need to explore options to counter act this to make traffic flow better. Sporting facilities are another concern, for the young people and also the older generations to encourage exercise and socialising with others. Your Community Board is your voice to Council for you to express your issues and concerns and meetings are open to you to attend. I am just an average person living in the same Community as you, that has the same concerns as many of you do. I would love to be your voice, make things happen to benefit us all. Voting is a right for us all so let's make a difference! Bring Community back to Hornby!!

If re-elected I will continue to represent you, the residents and ratepayers to make sure you have the quality of life you expect as a resident of Christchurch, living in Hornby.
We have retail, commercial and industrial interests that need to be considered along with our rural and new and older residential communities.
Vote the People's Choice for a voice for Hornby.

Pauline COTTERPauline COTTER

The People’s Choice

My principal place of residence is in the Innes Ward area.
Having served 3 years as a City Councillor I am seeking re-election to the Innes ward, where I have lived for the past 29 years.
It's crucial to work collaboratively with our communities. Our Council succeeded in restoring healthy relationships with the Crown, Ngāi Tahu, ECan and CDHB. We have adopted an enabling attitude reflected in, among many other examples, the long-awaited decision to allow the Edgeware Pool Group to fund and build their outdoor Community Pool.
The People's Choice have successfully fought to retain our City's assets, while still providing for the repair and rebuild, keeping rates increases low.
I am passionate about safeguarding our pure water, looking for opportunities to enhance our water quality within our Land Drainage Recovery Programme. Water takes must be monitored, enforcements applied and consents more realistic.
I will continue to represent you with compassion, logic, diligence and financial prudence. RMA Commissioner

Hi, I'm Mel (Melwyn Rodricks). I'm 55 years of growth, Kiwi by Nationality. I'm married, with kids in high school. I'm born and bred in Mumbai, and at 29 yrs, I moved to Dubai. I worked for SONY for 9 yrs and travelled throughout the Middle East, Africa, Europe, the C.I.S. (Formerly the U.S.S.R.) and the Far East. I came to Christchurch in 2003. I've worked with the Salvation Army for 6 years, worked with autistic spectrum adults for 4 yrs and somewhere along the line I qualified as a Counsellor and Neuro Linguistic Programing (NLP) practitioner. I've counselled thousands of Christchurch residents, suffering after Feb 2011.
I'm sick of the roads (literally) that we Christchurch survivors are travelling on, and the homes we come back to. I've decided, enough is enough. I am following my philosophy/policy of Acceptance, Understanding, Action. I have decided, to act.

My principal place of residence is in the Linwood Ward area.
I'm an experienced city councillor who is dedicated to standing up for social justice, environmental sustainability, and accountability. I'm committed to: keeping public assets in public ownership; a new aquatic/recreation facility in the Linwood/Woolston area; rebuilding the local libraries; enhancing the water quality and amenity of the Estuary, Avon and Heathcote rivers; addressing flooding issues in the east; city planning that involves citizens and communities; improved cleaning of streets and parks; a living wage for council employees and contractors; standing up for the Government to contribute its fair share of the rebuild costs; fixing the broken suburbs and streets instead of gold-plating the central city. I'm opposed to: intensification of housing in Linwood; excessive CEO salary increases; councillors double dipping with director's fees.
I seek your vote to support a Council that is democratic, transparent and puts the community and local people at the heart of its decision-making.

I am a 38 year old former truck driver and team leader/supervisor. My years of experience in the civil industry gave me a unique perspective into the current flaws of the infrastructure rebuild. I plan to use all the influence I can bring to bear to correct the flaws and drive out the inefficiencies that currently plague the rebuild and slow it down considerably.
I believe that being more accessible to the public is the key to being a good councillor and therefore I plan to spend regular time in the local service centre and the community so that people can drop by to give me their feedback and have their say on what they would like to see happen or change.

Linwood is where my heart lies and in representing the Hagley-Ferrymead ward for the past twelve years my focus has been on the people. I want to continue representing my people, I want to be the voice of the vulnerable and the elderly. My two promises to you are that I will advocate tirelessly on behalf of the community against vested interests, and secondly I will push hard to make sure that the money budgeted for the Linwood/Woolston pool will be spent. We need public investment in the area and an aquatic facility would be a great boost for all in the community. For this to be ensured we need democratically elected members with a knowledge of the interior Council to fight until the sod is turned and the contracts are awarded. Vote Brenda Lowe-Johnson for honest principled politics.

Jackie SIMONSJackie SIMONS

The People’s Choice - Labour

My principal place of residence is in the Linwood Ward of the Linwood-Central-Heathcote Community Board area.
I have lived in the Woolston/Linwood area most of my life. Working in healthcare, I increasingly see a community divided and dysfunctional because of rising poverty and inequality. It doesn't need to be like this and we can fix it, because ultimately we deserve a better future for ourselves and our families.
If elected I would like to bring hope back to my people and encourage resources that inspire people to become more involved and gain a better sense of self-worth and regard for their surroundings. To do this, I believe you need to be able to empathise, not sympathise, and have walked the walk, not read the book.
I have faced many of the challenges and barriers that people are facing today and I believe I have the abilities to help break down these barriers and improve the day to day lives of our citizens.

I am Christchurch born and bred and I bleed red and black.
Having grown up and gone to school in the Papanui Ward area, I'm strongly dedicated to its future just as I am committed to its past. I currently work as a union convener and I'm concerned about the future of our city as a place to both live and work. As the father of six boys, I'm passionate about the kind of future I want for all of us, but especially for those who will follow. I'm concerned that the legacy of local government without a strong presence of The People's Choice will result in irrevocable asset sales, backroom deals and unsustainable and unneccesary spending. Your voice will be heard by voting McCluskey.

Your Fresh Voice for Riccarton

My principal place of residence is in the Riccarton Ward of the Halswell-Hornby-Riccarton Community Board area.
My family moved here from India before I was born and truly felt like Kiwis by becoming involved in our community. My foundation of community work and passion lies with the performing arts. I'm the out-going President of MUSOC (University of Canterbury Musical Theatre Society) and have seen our organisation grow into a community theatre extending beyond the campus population. I think the arts plays a critical role in helping to shape a communities culture. I'm 24 years old and have finished a Bachelor of Arts and now doing my Masters in Business Management. I'm also a co-founder of an ethical street-wear clothing label called Mallu.
I believe I can best represent all ages in the Riccarton Ward. I'm a fresh voice, have huge energy and drive that I will direct towards our community. I think I'll be a great conduit between students, young professionals and the wider community.

It's time for a new face and a new perspective for Riccarton. I was born in Christchurch, raised in Riccarton and am currently a Business Banking Manager. Being brought up in Riccarton has helped me understand what needs to be implemented for our community. Being able to speak fluent Korean and English, and with a study background in Chinese and Japanese, I have a broad understanding of various cultures and believe I can unite our different ethnic groups. There have been many changes in Riccarton since the earthquake. The influx of population has caused traffic congestions and parking problems. The issue of increase in crime rates and the safety of our residents needs to be addressed. My focus is on investing in the right areas where it matters and ensure that every dollar makes a difference to our community. Your voices and opinions are what matters to me most.

I am standing with The People's Choice team of candidates because I support our policy platform of not selling strategic assets, provision of social housing that is affordable, warm and dry, and pushing for the living wage for all Council employees and staff of Council controlled organisations.
I support a vision of a Christchurch that is kind to its environment and supportive of its citizens.

I have a PhD in biochemistry, and business experience as the director of my own education company AHeadStart Ltd. I am dedicated, organised and hard-working. Community Voice

My principal place of residence is in the Spreydon Ward of the Spreydon-Cashmere Community Board area.
One of my interests is Addington where I live, a historic suburb which should not be divided by changes in Ward boundaries.
I am also interested in social justice and am concerned about the problems of homelessness and poverty. People begging on the streets of Addington and sometimes at Barrington Mall make these problems real and visible. This level of injustice is unacceptable.
I have a law degree and have tutored law papers briefly at Massey. I have had a variety of part time jobs while mainly being a mother and a member of the Catholic worker group in Addington for about 12 years. Prior to this I worked for the Housing Corporation (Residential Tenancies Section), Forest Service and Lands and Survey Department.
Spreydon and Addington communities need a strong voice.

As Chair of Strategy and Finance, I have helped guide the Council through a difficult time. Our complex financial situation has been clarified and stabilised. We have settled the largest insurance claim in NZ history and have created new legislation and entities to support locally driven urban regeneration. There are still many challenges ahead: trying to keep a lid on and reduce rates increases, finishing the repairs to our roads and footpaths, restoring our community infrastructure and facilities, and devolving more decision making to the local level. There is also an amazing opportunity to restore the residential redzone in an ecologically sustainable manner and make it a long-term asset for the city. Locally, we will continue to address planning, traffic and parking issues. I'm asking for your continued support to build on the work of the last three years and finish the job. Thank you.

Together, we can protect and enhance our waterways and parks. I aim to promote a vibrant and eco-friendly city: one that residents and visitors alike can enjoy.
I believe we need a unified traffic management plan; that values public transport and promotes cycleways, while ensuring we have quality infrastructure to move traffic easily around our city.
Your vote will enable me to advocate effectively for the needs of residents in the Waimairi ward.

I offer you representation which is energetic, competent and passionate about the future of our city. I am always available to discuss your concerns and welcome your feedback. Please contact me anytime on either 027 333 9215 or sam@sammacdonald.co.nz
Vote for energy and competence, vote Sam MacDonald for Community Board.

WINN, Lewis

Lewis WINN

Independent

My principal place of residence is in the Waimairi Ward of the Fendalton-Waimairi-Harewood Community Board area.
I have lived in Ilam for over 10 years, and have a background in retail and hospitality. My vision for Waimairi is an attractive and pleasant local and natural environment. We are fortunate here to have some of the best schools in the city, as well as parks and recreation facilities close by. I would like to maintain and further develop our reputation for this.
Issues that are important to me are an attractive local environment, in keeping with our garden city image. Reliable and well maintained infrastructure including roads, footpaths, parks and other facilities are also important. My values include social justice, local democracy, and a sense of community.
My promise to you is to always be available to listen and discuss any issues you may have. I look forward to meeting you.
