Councillor and Community Board candidates for Papanui Ward in the 2022 local elections.

Papanui Ward - Councillor (1 vacancy)

Mike DAVIDSON

Independent

Mike DAVIDSON

My principal place of residence is in the Papanui Ward area.

As your local Councillor, I am active in our communities and committed to making Papanui Ward and Christchurch a better place to live. This has seen greater investment into fixing footpaths, roads and water pipes, safer speeds around schools, sustainable transport choices and more investment into community groups and our natural environment.
Funding is now approved for traffic lights at the Langdons/Greers intersection, upgrading the Northcote/Sawyers Arms/Greers intersection, improving numerous local roads and playgrounds, having safer crossings along the railway line and delivering a local outdoor youth recreational facility.
I'm a director of ChristchurchNZ, support light rail for public transport and have lived locally for 30 years.
Like you, I'm committed to a better future for our city; we need climate action and to ensure Christchurch is a safe and affordable place to live.
Your vote for me will ensure you continue to have independent, experienced and effective leadership.

Victoria HENSTOCK

Your Local Independent Community Voice

Victoria HENSTOCK

My principal place of residence is in the Papanui Ward area.

I will be your strong local voice bringing experience, fresh energy, and more common sense decision making to Council.
Truly independent, not tied to a political party. I will listen, engage with the community, and represent your views.
We need sensible solutions to the many challenges we face. I'm committed to reducing wasteful spending, like over-engineered cycleways, and will advocate for getting the basics right; improving roads, footpaths, better public service delivery, and investment in sustainable climate adaptation.
My skills and experience suit the challenges ahead. A lawyer for 20+ years, before a career in executive leadership, working with local communities, Central and Local Government, and Ngāi Tahu.
I'm family focused and community minded, with a strong governance background serving on local school boards, YMCA, Women's Refuge, Community Law Centres, and Charitable Trusts.
Approachable, and passionate about Papanui and Christchurch. It would be my privilege to be your Councillor.
