Waimairi Ward - Councillor (1 required)

Zahra HUSSAINI

Zahra HUSSAINIThe People's Choice - Labour

My principal place of residence is not in the Waimairi Ward area. I am also standing for the Waimairi Ward of the Fendalton-Waimairi-Harewood Community Board.

Kia ora, My name is Zahra Hussaini and I am an active member of the Muslim and wider Christchurch community. I come from a big Afghan family but have lived in Christchurch since I was 12. Christchurch has been my home now for 15 years and I absolutely love this city and the people. My goal is to bring communities closer together so that we can tackle both big and small issues together. I'm personally passionate about making sure our water is clean and drinkable, that our environment is looked after and that our communities have access to libraries, leisure facilities and good clean public transport.
I'm standing for The People's Choice Labour team because I believe in public ownership of our assets that benefit the community as a whole.
I will work hard for all Christchurch's diverse communities - recent immigrants, Pakeha, Pacifica and Maori.

Does our community get value for money from the $27 million in rates we pay each year? Our roads, parks and water supply need improving, and we cannot afford more rate rises.
As the Chairman of our local Community Board, I enjoy working on everyday issues and local projects. But the big problems we face - continuous rate rises, ballooning debt and deferred maintenance - are what I hear most about, and those problems can only be solved from the Council table.
My Community Board experience here in the Waimairi Ward and work as a Chartered Accountant has given me both the local knowledge and professional skills to get better value for your ratepayer funds. I am asking for your vote to be your Councillor. As always, feel free to contact me at any time - sam@sammacdonald.co.nz or 0273339215.
It's time to put an Accountant at the Council table, vote Sam MacDonald
