Councillor and Community Board candidates for Cashmere Ward.

Cashmere Ward - Councillor (1 required)

Lee SAMPSON

Lee SAMPSONThe People's Choice - Labour

My principal place of residence is in the Cashmere Ward area. I am also standing for the Cashmere Ward of the Spreydon-Cashmere Community Board.

I'm standing to ensure we get the priorities right moving forward, with increased transparency and financial nous for ratepayers.
I've spent 20+ years managing large public and private sector projects and I'm confident that by making sounder decisions and getting the basics right, we can deliver more for our communities and within our financial constraints. I'll fight to: Protect our precious water resources; Get the basics right first; Keep rates low and prioritise spending; Support Port Hills conservation; Secure regional investment through central government.
I have broad volunteer experience as a Rotarian, youth mentor and representative on the Summit Road Society. During the rebuild I delivered new Social Housing and reduced the associated costs by up-to 50% through waste reduction, enabling more warm and sustainable homes to be built for our most vulnerable residents.
I'm motivated, approachable and always have an open door. Call 021772929

Thank you for supporting me for the past six years as your independent City Councillor. The next three years are very important for our community as we work to make Christchurch a vibrant, inclusive and sustainable city.
I am a proven Councillor who knows how to get the job done. I will remain your independent advocate, working with you to keep our community voice at the core of Council decision making. I will continue to meet you at my monthly clinics to understand the issues important to you, energetically representing our community.
Vote for me and I will continue to fight for chlorine-free drinking water, preservation of the Heathcote River and Port Hills, improved community facilities and better traffic planning. It's your rates, your community, your future. Your support will ensure I remain your Councillor.

Joe SULLIVAN

Joe SULLIVANMy principal place of residence is in the Cashmere Ward area.

I believe there is a strong need for new faces and experience with the ability to offer fresh ideas and make sensible decisions going forward to help provide a strong and stable base for the positive growth our city needs to make it the best it can be.
On a personal level for the last eight years I have been involved in the rebuild of Christchurch since the Canterbury earthquake sequence at a grassroots level. With a considerable number of years in the real estate industry prior to that.
I feel I can be a key contributor in making Christchurch one of New Zealands most desirable cities to live in and be a part of.
Realising our full potential for the people of our city and future generations.

Ian CUMMING

Ian CUMMINGIndependent

My principal place of residence is in the Cashmere Ward of the Spreydon-Cashmere Community Board area.

Cumming is coming, with your help, to the Community Board table.
As an independent candidate, I would take a collegial and common sense approach in the Board's deliberations and decisions.
After some 40 years as a TV producer, producing programmes for TVNZ and CTV, I have been active in retirement as a volunteer for our local Christchurch South Community Patrol, Central Police Station reception, and a Cancer Society driver.
In addition for the last 3 years I have served as a Justice of the Peace This involves work at the Courthouse, Spreydon Library, the Police Station, and at home.
So with that experience, I would bring to the Board's meetings energy and commitment in representing you. It would be a privilege to do so.

Keir LESLIE

Keir LESLIEThe People's Choice - Labour

My principal place of residence is not in the Cashmere Ward of the Spreydon-Cashmere Community Board area.

As a young person living in Somerfield, I think south Christchurch is the best place to live. From the Ōpāwaho-Heathcote to the Port Hills, we've got strong communities in a great environment.
But we need the right stewardship to protect those things, and address the challenges we face.
We need to get the basics right, starting with maintenance of roads and footpaths. Our social infrastructure is important too, from our libraries to sports fields. Everyone deserves inclusion.
Facing climate change, I'm committed to transforming our transport systems so low-carbon lifestyles aren't just possible, they're convenient and attractive. Public transport needs to be improved while walking and cycling should be safe and easy. I want parents to be comfortable letting their children walk to school.
And let's invest in ecological restoration. Let's pass on to our children and grandchildren pure, healthy waterways and hills covered in regenerating native bush.
