We are proposing speed limit changes on a number of roads in the Templeton area.
Consultation on the Templeton speed zone changes has now closed. People were able to provide feedback from Wednesday 13 June to Friday 6 July 2018. During this time we heard from 96 individuals and groups. You can read their feedback here [PDF, 363 KB] and also find out how this influenced the Community Board recommendation(external link). Council will make the final decision on this project at their meeting on 6 December 2018.
If approved by Council, work on this project will start in February 2019.
The changes include Dawsons Road, Hasketts Road, Jones Road, Kirk Road, Leggett Road, Maddisons Road and Newtons Road. The speed limit changes take into account safe and appropriate speeds recommended by the NZTA speed management guide.
These speed limit changes aim to improve safety and provide consistency of speed limits, following a number of changes in the Selwyn District Council area.
The Christchurch City Council's Traffic and Parking Bylaw 2017 allows Council to set and change speed limits on roads within Christchurch in accordance with the Land Transport Rule: Setting of Speed Limits 2017.
