Open for feedback: 2nd July 2018 - 31st July 2018

Christchurch’s incredible new central library, Tūranga, is opening soon, and we want kids and their schools to start getting involved now. We’re looking for names for Tūranga’s intergalactic heroes, the Bookbots.

Vote below for your favourite names for each Bookbot and go in the draw to win some galactic prizes!

  • One school will win a programmable interactive robot with training from PB Tech (to the value of $400).
  • One classroom will win a class visit to Imagination Station.
  • Six kids will each win a Promate Bluetooth speaker from Spark and some Bookbot wall decals for their room.

What’s a Bookbot?

Bookbots are from Planet Biblio and travel the universe helping to set up libraries. When Tūranga opens, you will be able to download the Bookbots app and help them fix their ship so they can return to their planet.

But before the Bookbots arrive at Tūranga, they need Earth names – and that’s where you come in.

Save your progress and resume your submission at a later time.

Your details

Bookbot 1

I’ll be the Chief Bookbot on He Hononga, the Connection floor. My job will be to introduce you to all the Bookbots and explain how the app works so you can be successful in your mission.

There are lots of things to explore on the He Hononga floor like the technology and innovation zone, amazing interactive wall and Foundations, our fantastic café.

Bookbot 2

We’re coming to Hapori, the Community floor. We all have to work together to get our job done.

Our floor is all about Community! You can find the Children and Young Adults sections and a whole lot of creative spaces and activities to explore and enjoy!

Bookbot 3

I’m coming to Tuakiri, the Identity floor and this is my ‘sidekick’. I hover over the ground. My friend can’t fly so hops around on the floor.

This level is all about identity and tells the story of places and people throughout Christchurch Ōtautahi and Canterbury Waitaha.

Bookbot 4

I’m coming to Tūhurutanga, the Discovery floor. I move around on a wheel and my eyes can extend to become telescopes.

This level is home to Tūranga’s non-fiction collections. You’ll find information on almost anything on the Tūhurutanga floor!

Bookbot 5

I’m coming to Auahatanga, the Creativity floor. I love good ideas and using my imagination. When I hear a good idea, a lightbulb can pop out of the top of my head!
