Bioelectric impedance analysis (BIA) scales

BIA scales allow a more accurate way to track your progress in our fitness centres. It measures:

  • weight
  • body fat percentage
  • metabolic age
  • percentage of water weight
  • muscle mass
  • visceral fat

The cost of this service is $20 for members and $35 for non-members.

New members have access to a full reading as part of their first and second programmes. The initial free sessions are included as part of our personal programme to new members.

Pool status and calendars

See when bookings and groups are swimming so you can plan when best to swim:

Pools

  • 25x25 metre lap pool, two-metre deep with movable floor.
  • 25x10 metre learn to swim pool.
  • 130-metre-long hydroslide, suitable for double and single rafts.
  • Leisure pool including a lazy river.
  • Splash deck with water adventure playground.
  • Spa pool, sauna and steam room. Access only for ages 16+.
  • 8x8 metre toddler pool.
  • 19x6.5 metre hydrotherapy pool.

All pools have ramped access. The spa pool, steam room and sauna are wheelchair accessible.

Hydroslide 

  • Preschoolers aged under five years are not allowed on the hydroslide.
  • Children between the ages of five and seven (inclusive) must be actively supervised by a caregiver over the age of 16 years who is to be within the pool area at all times and able to provide immediate assistance. 
  • You must be at least 107cm tall to use the hydroslide.

Inflatable obstacle course

The inflatable obstacle course will be in the pool on Sundays from 2pm to 4pm. Please check our Pool Status(external link) page before you come.

Inflatables users must be able to swim 25 metres unaided. Children under eight need to be supervised by caregivers over 16 years old.

Taiora QEII Hydrotherapy Pool

Aqua Gentle classes are held in this pool every Tuesday and Friday from 10.40am to 11.25am and Thursday at 1pm. Therefore the hydrotherapy pool is unavailable for general public use during these times. All customers are welcome to attend the classes. Book a class(external link).

Learn to swim

Swimsmart is our learn-to-swim programme. With flexible payment options and unlimited pool access at our Council pools, it's easy to make practice perfect.

Supervision of children in the pool

  • Children under five years old must be within arm’s reach and under constant supervision by a responsible caregiver aged 16 years or older in the pool at all times, who is wearing an orange wristband.
  • Children between the ages of five and seven (inclusive) must be wearing a purple wristband and actively supervised by a responsible caregiver aged 16 years or older, who is to be within the pool area at all times and able to provide immediate assistance.
  • Children aged 8 to 11 years (inclusive) must have a responsible caregiver 16 years or older on site unless they are in a supervised programme, such as swimming lessons. If they are swimming before or after their programme, their caregiver must be onsite.

Taiora QEII has a ten-lane pool. Depending on availability and demand at Taiora QEII, lanes will be allocated to aqua jogging, lane swimming and leisure activities. When there are deep lanes available at off-peak times, there will be a minimum of one lane dedicated to aqua jogging.

Typical peak times during school terms

At peak times, lane space may be booked for aqua classes, swim education classes and other bookings. Lanes will be available for leisure and lane swimming, but the pool is likely to be busier during the following times.
